The Lily

I've never truly liked the 'Lily'
I've never wondered why I've never felt the need to have one And here's the reason why It's not because they grow quite large The Sunflower can grow larger It's not because there's no sweet scent The Foxglove doesn't either I know why I dislike the Lily In all its shapes and sizes The Lily is a Killer you see It kills the hunter of mice's An original poem by Tulip1969 (First posted elsewhere in April 2013) |

Reflected light in water droplets
A spectrum of light appears A beautiful arc or sometimes a double Caused simply by the Earth's atmosphere The angle is relative to the rays of the Sun In the back of the droplet remarkable 42 degrees is the only direction Causing this the appearing reversible An original poem by Tulip1969 |

Those baubles of colour
Those baubles so bright Those baubles that glitter In the soft candlelight I pat them quite gently I watch how they swing A new toy to play with The joy that they bring Mum says I'm naughty She scolded me firmly I knocked off the baubles They broke quite easily It wasn't on purpose I had no mission I saw them, I liked them I'm only a Kitten! 'Ode' to a Cherry Pit

How I loved you Cherry pit
Playing on my tongue Your juice was spent upon my lip Your covered flesh all gone I rolled you gently just for fun My teeth they slightly parted Back and forth caressed my tongue But what had you just started Privately within this mouth Sensations grew and grew This little pit had brought this forth And no one had a clue The enjoyment very soft and subtle While learning all your textures This combination of strong muscle And punnet of garnet treasures Original rhyming couplets by Tulip1969 |

The Book Upon the Shelf

The Book Upon the Shelf.
The Book upon the shelf was open I took it down to read I saw the words upon the page Were something meant for me The words reminiscent of lovers long ago These men I'd loved and cherished These words that I could again savour The type that I would relish But not this book upon this shelf This one was carefully placed To catch this readers eye you see This book was written in haste The words of things from days gone past Of a 'lover' and I no longer Those words I read were meant to harm But I'm made of something stronger Are the words we write in private Not for others to see Or to be written in rhyming couplets 'Discretion' is not guaranteed So as with all the books I read There will be twists and turns But the prized books not on the shelf for me . . . Are the ones I've never returned An original rhyming couplet by Tulip1969 |
