This...wait, isn't this kinda sorta extremely illegal? To force someone out of their position due to their political beliefs?
Btw, I voted against citizens carrying guns in my city. I guess that you don't live the city, do you? Pretty sure your guns don't keep me free. They may, however, keep me awake at night. THEN YOU SHOULD PERHAPS COUNT THE SHEEP OF LIBERTY THAT MY GUN OWNERSHIP HAS CONVENIENTLY PROVIDED FOR YOU, MARXIST! |

Yes, I watched it to try and give the guy a fair shake, but it did not change my mind. I felt more sound in my decision to pull for McCain. Somewhere around the start of the infomercial, he was going on about how we are spending more in Iraq now than when we started. Most people know that many American Soldiers lives were lost due to under funding in the beginning. After the surge, the number of lives lost has dropped. He wants to cut funding for our troops... Where has he said this? He says that he wants to end the war in Iraq, not wave to the troops, burn the bridge, and stop sending them money. If they're not in Iraq, then they won't need $10 billion a month. |

Wow, that's a really ignorant viewpoint. Obama's way: Take money earned by one group and give it another. Alaska's way: The natural resources belong to all Alaskan citizens, so they receive a share of the profits from the exploitation of the resources. Basically, the author of the article is lamenting that Alaskan citizens are able to make a profit off of something they own. So of course the author is defending Obama, socialists stick together. So, should we also get checks from the airplane companies since they are using our skies to fly their planes in? What about my boss? He owns a ranch and uses the natural lakes and streams on there to water his animals, which he then sells--hey! Those lakes and streams belong to all Texans! I should get a cut of his sells. 1) The skys do belong to the American people, but the Federal government doesn't have the right to do that. The Federal government only has the rights that are given to it by the Constitution. 2) Your boss OWNS the ranch. The people of Alaska get money from the oil drilled on STATE lands (The mineral rights of those lands belong to all Alaskans by their laws). If an Alaskan owned land and oil was discovered on that land, the oil would belong to the owner of the land. It's because the State of Alaska has given the mineral rights of State land to it's citizens that causes the Alaskan citizens to get some of the money the state gets from selling that oil to the oil companies. I hope that helps. So, it still boils down to a collective ownership of resources and COMMUNISM ( ) in the same way that raising taxes on people who make over $250,000 a year by a mere 3% is SOCIALISM ( )? Just checkin'. |

I just watched it. As someone already in the tank for Obama, it was very inspiring and brought tears to my eyes in a couple of places. If I were undecided or decided for McCain, it wouldn't have brought me over, but I think it might have given me some things to look up if I hadn't researched the candidates already.

For her part, Sarah Palin, who has lately taken to calling Obama “Barack the Wealth Spreader,” seems to be something of a suspect character herself. She is, at the very least, a fellow-traveller of what might be called socialism with an Alaskan face. The state that she governs has no income or sales tax. Instead, it imposes huge levies on the oil companies that lease its oil fields. The proceeds finance the government’s activities and enable it to issue a four-figure annual check to every man, woman, and child in the state. One of the reasons Palin has been a popular governor is that she added an extra twelve hundred dollars to this year’s check, bringing the per-person total to $3,269. A few weeks before she was nominated for Vice-President, she told a visiting journalist—Philip Gourevitch, of this magazine—that “we’re set up, unlike other states in the union, where it’s collectively Alaskans own the resources. So we share in the wealth when the development of these resources occurs.” Perhaps there is some meaningful distinction between spreading the wealth and sharing it (“collectively,” no less), but finding it would require the analytic skills of Karl the Marxist.
So, for those of you who are voting for McCain and criticize Obama for being a "socialist" for wanting to "spread the wealth"--which is worse, a socialist or a communist? Because by the same logic being used to call Obama a socialist, Sarah Palin is a communist who governs a state where The People collectively own oil resources. edit: forgot the link! http://www.newyorker.com/talk/comment/2008/11/03/081103taco_talk_hertzberg |

It amazes me the sort of things people get all het up over.
This is why racism doesn't go away: Lifting my pale oppressed finger to press 1 for English. Using a respectful term for other human beings that is SEVEN ENTIRE SYLLABLES long and tiring out the tongue in my oppressed ivory head. This is not why racism doesn't go away: People of color being shot by police on "accident" Dragging a man behind a truck until he is dismembered because of his race People with recognizably black names being significantly less likely to be hired than people with more stereotypically white names despite having equal skills, experience, and qualifications. Deporting Latinos even though they are citizens because you think "check their papers" means "check and see if they have brown skin". Attacking random Arab and South Asian people because their TERRERRISSTS!!!? Thanks for clearing it up! |

They're all pretty ****ed up. I mean, there are certain ones that carry a greater threat because of historical context--such as lynching an Obama effigy as above, or a more gendered attack on a Palin effigy. I don't really think that a McCain torture effigy would be on the same level of those because it doesn't have the context of being attacked on a characteristic that involves a history of oppression and doesn't carry a threat towards an entire group of people...but it would still be amazingly, amazingly messed up and in bad taste.
Basically, people who make effigies are assholes. |

It's already happened. It received a lot less attention. The city leaders condemned it, but the guy was not forced to take it down. He later took it down of his own accord. |

Redistribution of wealth is not a concept we should be fighting for. Do not take from one and give to another. Things like this start wars... When you build and operate infrastructure; i.e. roadways, pipelines, powerlines, schools, police stations, fire stations, sewage systems and others you are redistributing wealth. Items like these are needed and are paid by taxes. Coincedently if you did the opposite of "redistribution of wealth" which is horde the wealth not only will you be called Mr. Scrooge but, as any ecomonics professor will tell you, you'll only create a depression. ...and an angry underclass to start revolutions. |

According to the book of Revelation, the anti-Christ: will be a man in his 40s, of MUSLIM descent, who will come out of nowhere, decieve the nations with persuasive language, and have a MASSIVE Christ-like appeal..... the prophesy says that people will flock to him and he will promise false hope and world peace, and when he is in power, will destroy everything. Is it OBAMA? I STRONGLY URGE YOU TO THINK ABOUT IT AND SEND THIS TO ALL YOUR FRIENDS WHO HAVE THE PRIVILEGE TO VOTE. THE BOOK OF REVELATION SAYS THAT THE BEAST WILL BE ALLOWED TO HAVE AUTHORITY APPROX 42 months (in ch 13) Thats almost a 4 year presidency term. Lord have mercy on us! *Jesus is Life* Wow, fail. Try not to carve the "B" backwards next time. x2 |

Revelations
Chapter 13 13:1 Then I stood on the sand of the sea. I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns and seven heads. On his horns were ten crowns, and on his heads, blasphemous names. 13:2 The beast which I saw was like a leopard, and his feet were like those of a bear, and his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, and great authority. 13:3 One of his heads looked like it had been wounded fatally. His fatal wound was healed, and the whole earth marveled at the beast. 13:4 They worshiped the dragon, because he gave his authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, "Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?" 13:5 A mouth speaking great things and blasphemy was given to him. Authority to make war for forty-two months was given to him. 13:6 He opened his mouth for blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his dwelling, those who dwell in heaven. 13:7 It was given to him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them. Authority over every tribe, people, language, and nation was given to him. 13:8 All who dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who has been killed. 13:9 If anyone has an ear, let him hear. 13:10 If anyone has captivity, he will go. If anyone is with the sword, he must be killed. Here is the endurance and the faith of the saints. 13:11 I saw another beast coming up out of the earth. He had two horns like a lamb, and he spoke like a dragon. 13:12 He exercises all the authority of the first beast in his presence. He makes the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose fatal wound was healed. 13:13 He performs great signs, even making fire come down out of the sky to the earth in the sight of people. 13:14 He deceives my own people who dwell on the earth because of the signs he was granted to do in front of the beast; saying to those who dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast who had the sword wound and lived. 13:15 It was given to him to give breath to it, to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause as many as wouldn't worship the image of the beast to be killed. 13:16 He causes all, the small and the great, the rich and the poor, and the free and the slave, to be given marks on their right hands, or on their foreheads; 13:17 and that no one would be able to buy or to sell, unless he has that mark, the name of the beast or the number of his name. 13:18 Here is wisdom. He who has understanding, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. His number is six hundred sixty-six. Seems like the only part of your spiel you can wrest out of John's acid trip is the 42 months thing (which is less than four years) and the great words (and it says he also speaks blasphemy). So the only people we should elect for president are those who talk like sputtering idiots? |
