The reason a lot of people don't reply is because a polite "no thanks" seems to incite the other person. I have told several people "no thanks" and they keep messaging me trying another angle. They don't take no for an answer and seem to think if they are just persistent enough you will eventually buckle. I almost always respond but I certainly understand why some don't.
