often i lay in this hospital bed,
the drugs and painkillers drowning the thoughts in my head.

The doctor tells me that everything will be fine,
but I can see the sinister tone in his eyes.

He looks at my mother,
she looks back at him,
as if an entire discusion has taken place,
and no one even bothered to fill me in.

As the ending of another painful day draws near,
I return once more to that fiendish state of fear.

And as I leave the hospital,
in my wheel chair,
the nurse sends me a sluggish smile,
which discourages me and abdicates my hopes for a while.

Another day has come,
Another day has gone,
and slowly but surely,
my life carries on.

That depth of which there lay no return from this demon-like darkness,
And as I fall my life force cuts off,
Please God, oh please give me back my wings.

And without my wings I am forced to walk upon this forsaken road,
The friends that I thought I knew,
Now seem as if I have never known them at all,
As no one is left to catch me as i fall,
And once i break through this barrier of darkness,
It will not matter as I reluctantly head on back to that same lonely road.
