Abracadabra: You're not alone. Probably 99.9% of the people who call themselves "Christians" disagree with the Bible. laugh Why they insist on calling themselves "Christians" is beyond me. ohwell Most 'Christians' truly don't believe in Christianity at all. They just cling to the name of Jesus and make up their own story of what that supposedly means. whoa </div> Many Christians have different biblical interpretations. Is that in disagreement with the Bible? Please tell me what a true Christian believes. I've been told many times that I'm not a true Christian. I remember hearing how a bee defies the laws of physics. I'm not asking for an explanation, the point I was trying to make with my earlier post is everything in our universe is to intelligent to happen by chance. And when you go and try to figure it all out, Nature comes a long and throws another stumbling block in your way. In my opinion science proves that there is a God. |

Mt 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, not one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. jot and tittle meaning not even the most minute part of the law shall pass away. |

Dont forget he also tried to kill off his creation in the flood. That would lead me to believe that he created humans to be something for him to play with and once his toys were no longer fun, he chose to destroy them. These religions are all very similar to the Greco/Roman pantheon as they originated in the Mediterranean. The only difference there is many God/Goddesses as opposed to a singular male deity. "Krimsa" God probably got bored with the angels first and had a war and killed many of them and will need humans to replace those angels for the war God will have with Jesus ..because Jesus's philosophy of Love is in conflict with God promises of Hell and it has to result in another war in Heaven  no angels were "killed" funch, they were cast out of heaven - get your facts straight at least - gheeesh!!

I totally stay out of the religious threads. I'm secure enough in my beliefs that I feel no need to argue or defend them in a public discourse. I also see that there can be no discussion here because there are Christians, non-Chrstians, Atheists, and anti-Christians who cannot allow anyone to posses a different belief system without feeling the need to debunk and bash it so I don't participate you just did - 
DOH!! I figure everyone has a right to believe whatever they want without being challenged by others me, I believe in the baby Jesus and the resurrection and take comfort in the Grace that God gives me through that connection but I also believe in the Pagan aspect of the deity. And I believe in Krishna, and I believe in Mohammed, and I believe in the Four Noble Truths so there isn't much for me to argue about what is this "isn't much" to argue about then? either there is something you feel you may argue about or not? seeing there is millions of things to argue about on here what percentage of these in your opinion make up this "isn't much" catagory? |

OMG! It takes too much effort to write that way! But, yes, I notice it a lot. I was having a conversation with someone about a week ago who was trying to impress upon me the need for total detachment and supression of the ego. It was hard to read his posts. I checked his profile and the first sentence was that he was extrememly intelligent (spelled wrong)! If you're going to brag about your intelligence, spell correctly and don't preach to others about egoism!

Thanks, it's what my little sis calls me.
 I have a confession - I used to be on both sides. When I was religious I was something of a zealot trying to save everyone's souls. I really just wanted to be helpful but I see my mistake now. Things happened, my faith was shattered, and I became bitter and an extreme atheist trying to prove that the Bible was just as mythical as the Odyssey. I was really kind of a jerk about it.
I let go of my animosity, I realized it too was making me miserable, and I didn't like being so negative. I then have come to my own conclusions of what God is, it's not the Christian God, but I'm happy with it. I'm highly stubborn and realized my big problem was that I never listened - so I suppose my advice comes from my own experiences. I'm more open now than I used to be. been there done that to still am. i think Erasmus says it best " Polemic should be avoided because the long war of words and writings ends in blows" |

Someone just relayed a story to me about how NASA had to use the bible to figure out launch times and return times for the early space flights. they said that there calculations were not turning out as they should and this christian scientist told them the story about how the earth stood still when moses raised his staff during a battle that was being waged and for that time the earth stood still. so they found the amount of time and added it into their calculations and everything turned out correct then?? does anyone know of this to be a fact?? I knew that they new things were not like they were supposed to be and they used that to figure it right, but I didn't know about NASA using it. Pretty neat. it would have been neat had it been true but it's not. |

Tribo.....scopes may say false....but hey....there are scriptures given to back up what is being said here.......and as a Christian..heyyyy....I Know scripture doesn't lie. Nothing false here at all!! In fact, did some study on this myself some years ago. In the old testament , it is mentioned where TIME STOOD STILL for ABOUT a day ...
Joshua, upon being encamped about by the enemy, was concerned that if darkness fell ,the enemy would overpower them. So Joshua called upon the Lord and asked the Lord to make the sun stand still. "The sun stood still and the moon stayed....and hastened not to go down for a whole day" ( Joshua 10: 12-13 ) (the elapsed time came out to be 23 hours and 20 minutes). In the old testament, it also mentions ,where time went BACKWARDS. Hezekiah , being sick on his deathbed, was visited by the Prophet Isaiah, who told him he would not die. Hezehiah asked for proof that this was true..and so then ,The Prophet asked the Lord to make the sun go back 10 degrees (as seen on the sundial), and the sun went backwards 10 degrees, instead of forward.(10 degrees equal 40 minutes). The missing day is the 23 hours and 20 minutes in Joshua's day..... plus the 40 minutes in Hezehiah's day....... which added up , is the equivalent of one whole day missing. http://www.snopes.com/religion/lostday.asp i understand all of that my lady, what i was reffering to was NASA having used this to figure out thr space flight program, thats bull and you know it. this man had nothing to do with NASA in that sense nor did they ever use the bible to figure trajetirys or time lines out by whats stated there, thus a lie, canard, untruth, hoax. |
