If the dog is used to having you all to his or her self and someone new enters the picture there can be jealousy. Sometimes the dog can think your SO is hurting you if they aren't used to seeing you being physical with another human. They will get used to it.

I have no problem with showing my softer side to women once they have earned my trust. Like rara says, I know I'm a man. Part of being a man is not being afraid of who you are, it took me many years to learn this.
It's worth mentioning also that a lot of the so called "tough guys" who are afraid to show emotion are 160 pound guys who think they're Superman when they get a six-pack in them. I'm a big guy and being a biker I know a lot of big guys. Most of them are respectful and appreciative to their ladies, loving to their kids and harsh as hell to anyone who needs them to be.

I agree with those assessments but what I don't get is why are people so afraid of anything different than what they see everyday....Is there no desire to experience life, new people and new experiences? That's just so sad.....
