THE 84 YEAR OLD BRIDE
|
|
The local news station was interviewing an 84-year-old lady because she had just gotten married - for the fourth time. The interviewer asked her questions about her life, about what it felt like to be marrying again at 85, and then about her new husband's occupation. "He's a funeral director," she answered. "Interesting," the newsman thought. He then asked her if she would mind telling him a little about her first thriee husbands and what they did for a living. She paused for a few moments, needing time to reflect on all those years. After a short time, a smile came to her face and she answered proudly, explaining that she first married a banker when she was in her early 20s; then when in her 40s, a circus ringmaster; later on when in her 60s, a preacher; and now, in her 80s, a funeral director. The interviewer looked at her, quite astonished, and asked why she had married four men with such diverse careers. "Well", she said with smile on her face, "I married one for the money, two for the show, three to get ready and four to go!" ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Everyone Needs Someone People need people and friends need friends And we all need love, for a full life depends Not on vast riches or great acclaim Not on success or worldly fame But just in knowing that someone cares And holds us close in their thoughts and prayers For only the knowledge that we're understood Makes everyday living, feel wonderfully good And we rob ourselves of life's greatest need When we "lock up our hearts" and fail to heed The outstretched hand reaching to find A kindred spirit whose heart and mind Are lonely and longing to somehow share Our joys and our sorrows and to make us aware That life's completeness and richness depends On the things we share with our loved ones and friends - Helen Steiner Rice - |

How do you deal with it. Because someone that I love dearly has a terminal disease, and I just found out. I don't post often, but I need some help right now. |

It's no different than how we are, I don't think. We are just as visual, but not so verbal or overt about it. I don't find scrawny thin or overly obese men generally attractive. And, some men think I'm large while others say I'm average or just right. Some guys like scrawny, some like BBWs. It's like everything else, a matter of perspective. ![]() |
