Just got this in an email...
A blue whale produces over 400 gallons of sperm when it ejaculates. Only 10% of it actually makes it into his mate. So 360 gallons are spilled into the ocean ever time one unloads. Now we know why the ocean is so salty... Dont drink the water. |

Well then it sounds like you've already paid a dear price for your dreams. Wouldn't it be sad and a little foolish to give up on 'em now?? Good luck with it! Yeah, I'm still in discussions with her on visitation with the step kids once I get out there. I may be their step dad, but after 6 years they are my kids too... I worry alot about them & dont want them thinking I dont want to see them again. As ist is now, while I'm still here in MI I get to see them on Saturdays and thats even tough. That is the lst part of the hard choice of going out there, only getting to see them in the summer "Maybe". Know what I mean? |

And just expect to be alone out there. Your neighbors will all be hearty people and become great friends; that lifestyle does that, but at the end of the day you'll more than likely be watching the sunset alone. If you can resign yourself to that then giverhell! I resigned to that after the 2nd divorce. She left me becuase of my dream & the fact that I wanted to follow it. She had different dreams & I guess she didnt really think I would go for mine or something. |

You mention "getting back" to what you grew up doing. Do you know sheep ranching well? Lots of experience with it? What about the people going out there to help you?? Are they knowledgeable and experienced? With every new adventure it's the unexpected that kills you. Most surprises aren't good ones and will eat up any spare capital real quick. If you know what you're doing with the actual operations side of things then go for it. I started my own business about four years ago and I can't imagine working for someone else ever again. Sure it's scary but anything worth having is worth the journey to get there. Yeah, most of my life I spent on the ranch, raising different animals, depending on where I was working. I've raised horses, cattle, goats, sheep, lamas, chickens, & turkeys. Doing everyting from birthing to medications to feed & nutritional requirements. My brother and 2 cousins have the same background as me. I know there will anways be supprises around the corner though, Life always throughs those at you. |

Actually, in my experience, people generally don't get noticed until they've been here awhile and have posted enough to have established a forum presence. I think it's just that people feel more comfortable dealing with someone who has provided a sense of who they are. I notice that the majority of the people who post complaints like "This site doesn't work!" seem to have been here for three days and have made two posts. I don't think this is a coincidence! yeppers I agree totally. I also noticed I could kill a thread just by starting it Yeah, I took Princess's advise (as well as many others) and starting using the forums more. I have alot more conversations now, at least on the forums that is...lol. |

No, you just look like someone that loves his kitty. Hey I live alone with my dog & cat, andd the cat's purring puts me to sleep. I have to admit I'd rather it be a woman that I loved putting me to sleep, but thats why I'm here now isn't it...lol. |

Go for it!!! but don't forget the snow build barns I guess co.is cold.. Building ten 30'x120' barns for cold weather protection. plus planting another 2500 trees as wind breaks. This area of colorado doesn't get the amount or duration of cold weather that most of colorado does though. |

Yea, way to kill animals you sick ****. "Lamb Meat"... Way to bait them with grass and kill them for profit. You shouldn't kill anything with a heartbeat or a mother. Grow corn. Have you forgotten that corn is a MAJOR PLAYER in the hunt for "alternative fuels"... ? --- It's a goldmine dude, don't be dumb :] Hey this economy isn't built on it's profit from vegetables. Let's face it Americans consume alot more meat then they do vegetables. That & currently the government is paying farmers not to grow corn. Just doesn't make sence to me yet. I'd rather raise something people want. |

I'm also worried about the area as far as relationships go... the town to the west has a population of 67, to the east another town of 127. Heck nearest bar is 1.25 hours away...lol

There is always a risk to any business venture. Is there alot of money in farming? Can you support yourself when there is loss? Do you have a clue what you are doing? Is the land the right type for this type of farming??? If your answers are positive then go for it.... Not alot of money, but after the 3rd year I wont be wanting for lack of it. Yes I can support myself and about 6-10 family members with their saleries. I've been out there several times to see the property, its currently a cattle ranch, I have to re-seed the fields to get the grasses I really want, but it will grow fine. I guess I'm just nervous. |

Do your self a favor, grow some corn. Corn is gold right now, atleast it will be in about 10 years... Mark my words. Yeah, I see that too, but for current, Lambs meat is the best $ turn around in the time allotment |
