What are some of your favorite acronyms?
Have you come up with any originals? Please, I beseech you all, don't just start cut/pasting lists from the web. I made these up and put them on my security badge at work. It finally got back to upper management what they actually meant, and I had to remove them, but I had a good 6 month run. AMDIC (Ask Me Do I Care) DILLIC (Do I Look Like I Care) ATWOMT (A Total Waste Of My Time) YAGLAF (You Are Gibbering Like A Fool) WAYAM (Why Are You Asking Me) YABAOMA (You Are Breathing All Of My Air) YAAWODNA (You Are A Waste Of DNA) |

Sorry butters but your "science" is off. Your God had to have a maker. Since buildings don't just come into existence either did your god. Your god was made by my God Zeus. What is important to realize is that since Zeus is the one true God you better make sure you worship him. Your God was his first creation and he wasn't so good at making things then. Zeus is a God that can admit his mistakes though and he says sorry and he gave all woman a second breast to make up for it. Anyway I digress, you won't get a second chance at this so you might as well just cover yourself and worship Zeus. Zeus Out ok...who made Zeus??? again...you make no logical sense I believe it was Cronus & Rhea..... And before you ask, it was Gaea & Ouranos, and they are eternal and have always existed. I'm a big study of greek mythology. my point is he was asking who made God but the arguement goes for his beliefs too. sorry...we have this going on on between the 2 of us. he ignores my posts and I keep posting No offense intended.... I was just being my usual irritating self. (,,nudge, nudge) |

1 armed citizen against the U.S. government = worthless. 60 million armed citizens against the U.S. government = very effective at the very least Dude you're a military yourself? WTF? very effective for what? 20 minutes? Against what? Trained soldiers? Tanks? C-130 spectre? tac Nukes? Mines? Frag bombs? Gas at 6 bucks a gallon? lol come on. Be serious. You're failing to see that it would involve a different style of warfare. WMD use would be ineffective & impractical. Think partisans, guerrillas, sticky-bombs, homemade flamethrowers, IEDs, 82mil deer rifles with scopes (based on average sales), 26mil+ veterans with at least basic military training. As of the year 2000, conservative estimates were that nearly half the households in America were armed with at least one firearm, with about 258mil weapons in hand (Nat'l Academy of Sciences review). The estimate on full-auto weaponry, according to 1999 BATFE data, (non-criminal owned), is 14%; that's over 3.6mil full-auto weapons in civilian hands. No, I really don't think it would be a good idea to piss off the American people, do you? Is the government afraid of us? Absolutely. Let's keep it that way. More wisdom from the Founding Fathers:
"What, Sir, is the use of a militia? It is to prevent the establishment of a standing army, the bane of liberty.... Whenever Governments mean to invade the rights and liberties of the people, they always attempt to destroy the militia, in order to raise an army upon their ruins." -Rep. Elbridge Gerry of Massachusetts, spoken during floor debate over the Second Amendment [ I Annals of Congress at 750 {August 17, 1789} "Firearms stand next in importance to the constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence … from the hour the Pilgrims landed to the present day, events, occurrences and tendencies prove that to ensure peace security and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable … the very atmosphere of firearms anywhere restrains evil interference — they deserve a place of honor with all that's good." -George Washington |

I believe the intent of this forum is to encourage intelligent debate, which is based on dialectical argumentation, not eristic assault, evangelizing or proselytizing (no matter what belief structure is involved). that's a fantasy ...even now you are pressing your beliefs upon others as to what the intent of this forum is ...frankly I think it is here to bring in adverstisment bucks Funches, should I have said "As I understand it"? Please accept the rephrase to accommodate your perceptions. I was merely summarizing in keeping with the overall spirit that the existing rules appear to present. I will grant, in a more banal sense, that, yes, you are probably correct about the advertising. |

If you want true intelligent and open debate, one should also welcome points of view from those who feel very strongly, one way or the other as well as people in the middle of the spectrum. Saying you're open and then rejecting one side or other of the argument is kind of a contradiction in terms. But, that's just my opinion. And I'm probably one of the people you're railing about. So sorry. Any posting, which I have read, by you, has been informative, civil, and/or entertaining. I'm not "railing", by the way...Just saddened by some of the things I've seen here. |

Yes, I have often noticed posts and posters who do not welcome the "opposing" or even slightly differing viewpoint. And this is against the rules. But censoring and deletion, etc. are usually reserved only for those posts/posters that are actively and currently causing harm/attacking others. We all see rude or exclusionary or attacking threads and posts but do we really want to censure so broadly? I understand your position, but I didn't write the rules, and I don't think there is anything wrong with them. It's not as if it's just an infraction here and there, now and then. They are blatantly disregarded in practically every forum, repetitively, by a select few. I have managed forum websites before, and I would have long past censured & removed (if necessary) these types of offenders. I can come up with no explanation other than there just being too few moderators for the number of users. |

Properly enforcing the regulation below would clean up this forum nicely. I see numerous topics that should have been deleted a long time ago.
Also, topics which are designated for response exclusively from one religion or belief system, or which may cause that type of polarization, will be deleted. The concept behind these forums is to encourage anyone to participate and post their opinions and thoughts as long as they are on-topic. Topics which do not adhere to that philosophy will be removed, and the poster may lose his/her posting privileges. I believe the intent of this forum is to encourage intelligent debate, which is based on dialectical argumentation, not eristic assault, evangelizing or proselytizing (no matter what belief structure is involved). Despite the invalid propositions which are presented, a very few of the participants attempt valiantly to adhere to this philosophy. Their efforts are in vain, due to the incessant misconduct of the many, making any counter argument nearly pointless. |

A man was being tailgated by a stressed out woman on a busy boulevard.
Suddenly, the light turned yellow, just in front of him. He did the right thing, stopping at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten the red light by accelerating through the intersection. The tailgating woman had to slam on her brakes. As her tires screeched to a sudden stop, she hit the horn. Then she started screaming curses in frustration over her missed chance to get through the intersection, dropping her cell phone and makeup in the process. As she was still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her half-open window. She stopped her tirade and looked up into the face of a very serious police officer. The officer ordered her to exit her car with her hands up. He took her to the police station where she was searched, finger printed, photographed, and placed in a holding cell. After a couple of hours, a policeman approached the cell and opened the door. She was escorted back to the booking desk where the arresting officer was waiting with her personal effects. He said: "I apologize for your experience. You see, I pulled up behind your car while you were blowing your horn, flipping off the guy in front of you, and cussing a blue streak. I noticed the 'Choose Life' license plate holder, the 'What Would Jesus Do?' bumper sticker, the 'Follow Me to Sunday-School' bumper sticker, and the large, chrome-plated fish emblem on the trunk." "It seems that I made a mistake, but for some odd reason I was sure that you must have stolen the car you were driving." |
