Starving Child.

Can you see me as I sit here?
Why do you ignore my outstretched hands?
I want only pennies to buy some food
You can see my bones though my skin.

I sit here each day as you pass me by
You see the hungry in my eyes, the rags that cover my body
The sores on my skin from lack of food
Yet you walk pass, eyes to the front.

And all that I want
Is to take away the hunger
And heal my ravaged body
Please take pity on a human soul

I did not want this life
To sit here and beg
Why am I so different?
I am only four....

We are on this earth but for a short span of time
We have the options to make our lives
As we want them to be
We can be happy, be sad
Be caring, be uncaring
The choice is ours, ours alone.

We are given the right to make our decisions
Sometimes right, sometimes wrong
We are given the courage to admit our mistakes
The courage to step forward, and alter our lives.

Seek only that what you want in life
Seek only what you feel is right
Our lives are for us to control
Not to be pushed or pulled
By other peoples opinions
Seek only what is in your heart.

If I Could Rewrite My Life...

If I could rewrite my life
I would be in a time and place where you are
My years would fall away, my memories, unimpaired
Seeing you walk pass by on the sidewalk
Your eyes met mine, you looked unsure
Did you know, did you recognise me
Then you were gone in the blink of an eye.

So many weeks passed by without seeing you
Were you afraid, have you realised who I was
Is your heart beating fast, knowing that I am here
Will you take the chance and walk by again
I wait, the street uncrowded, will you come by
I look at my watch, so many hours have passed
It's time for me to go, time to leave.

I turn and see you some distance away
Just standing, just looking
I look again, but you have gone
With heavy heart, I turn to leave
Knowing that my chance has gone
Knowing that your lips will not touch mine
Never to feel your hands touch me.

Still, I have the memory of looking into your eyes
Recalling that fleeting moment when our eyes met
Did I see love, deep within your heart
Did you want to stop and speak
I wished that you had
It was me, did my youthful looks deceive you
I was there, it was real, only in a different time...

Nothing Last Forever...

Our love can only last a lifetime
we live to make the most of each passing day
spending as much time as we can together
nothing can last forever

The days soon pass quickly
each of us growing old with time
both with failing memories, failing minds
nothing can last forever

One of us has gone, never to return
not intending to leave the other alone
there only to reflect on the happy times gone by
nothing last for ever

Let's be together, while there's still time
to share our days, share our lives
for all too, soon, time will have passed us by
life is not forever....

No nothing, nothing is forever...
