Starving Child.
Can you see me as I sit here? Why do you ignore my outstretched hands? I want only pennies to buy some food You can see my bones though my skin. I sit here each day as you pass me by You see the hungry in my eyes, the rags that cover my body The sores on my skin from lack of food Yet you walk pass, eyes to the front. And all that I want Is to take away the hunger And heal my ravaged body Please take pity on a human soul I did not want this life To sit here and beg Why am I so different? I am only four.... MJN |

6 seconds.... 6 seconds till I die... Death walks upon our cries. Death stares at me like a raving wolf. My body is so sore, so cold, so hot, so hungry. If I could shed but one tear, but I can't I'm so thirsty. 6 seconds..... till I die Death comes in the day, in the night, while we cry.... It stalks us...., consumes us, starves us, laughs in joy. A modern day concentration camp in plain view of the world. My stomach swells in pain, let death be my comfort. Innocence becomes a childhood dream. Swept away in a river of death, that flows through the media. 6 seconds..... Death has noticed me God hide not your face from me, where were you, where are you now. My God, My God why hast thou forsaken me. I'm only a child, what did we do, hear our cries. Still you are with me, let it rain for only a moment. Comfort my thirst.... if only for a moment. 6 seconds.... death consumes me, it feast upon me. Poem: MHS©Copyright 2011 |
