I read through all the posts thinking someone had already suggested this to you but did not see it, and I don't know if any doctor has said anything, but what about RSV, that is a very nasty long acting virus that loves to attack newborns and the elderly. I have several co-workers whose children have and/or have had it. I know that they have to treat their children just like you would treat an asthma patient with breathing treatments, etc. but they also require extended treatment with low dose antibiotics.

First of all JDO your son is just too cute, he got a big AAAAWWWWW out of me and I'm just not the go gushy over babies type of person. I am lucky enough to be the mother of two wonderful teenage boys who are quickly turning into young men. They have been the rock in my life for the past 14 months as I have struggled through leaving their increasingly verbally abusive father, getting through a nasty divorce, and trying to realize that it just might be possible for me to choose more wisely next time. It is a joy to my heart that God gave them the best traits from myself and their father and that they both have such level headed, even tempered personalities. What makes it an even bigger miracle is because I was never supposed to be able to have children, and to this day my OB/Gyn tells me that God gave them to me as a gift, because he has no explanation of how someone with only one ovary who was already entering menopause at the ripe old age of 24, yes you are reading that right 24, managed to get pregnant not just once, but twice within an 18 month period of time. My youngest son, John, almost died at birth. They had to do an emergency C-section when I was 7 months pregnant because he was already so large that he was putting pressure on my heart and lungs to the point that I was passing out. So there he was two months early weighing almost 8 pounds with tubes and wires and oxygen. Since I was unconscious when he was born I did not get to see him at the time, but I saw pictures later and he also came out of the womb completely blue. His lips, fingers and toes were purple. God and the wonderful doctors and nurses kept him alive through those first 48 before I was even allowed to see him. I remember them telling me I could touch him only on the sole of his little foot, but when I did that he jerked and quit breathing and his heart stopped, I was terrified. But 48 hours after that I was leaving the hospital with him because once he got used to me being there touching him he made a remarkable turn around! Since my mom was in the medical profession and we had a home health nurse visiting every day I got to keep him at home. I fed him with a bottle that looked like a giant hypodermic with this tube that went down his throat, and my mom or the nurse would take blood samples to the hospital everyday. But now he is seventeen years old, 6'1" tall, and weighs around 135 pounds. The only thing I have to watch for now is keeping his body fat at a high enough level. Because that is another gift of their fathers that God blessed both of my boys with, they eat like horses and can't gain weight. My oldest, who is 18 and fixing to go in the Army is almost 5'7" now and he only weighs between 110 and 115.

I am speaking from both sides of the fence here, as both a child of divorce and a parent of divorce. Did something go on at his dad's house to upset the routine? Is there a new woman in dad's life? If there is does she have kids? Is there any reason to suspect that dad is abusive? It could just be that your child was tired and cranky, or sick and cranky, but there could be something going on at dad's that is making him unhappy and 4 years olds just communicate that something is wrong as easily as older kids can.

drinker Anything with a member of the Brat Pack because they made some terrific movies, The Outsiders, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Labrynth of course because whoever introducted David Bowie to Jim Henson is a genius, and for animated movies Heavy Metal.

Well since I have two 18 years olds and a seventeen year old our last movie we all four sat down to watch together was 'Final Destination 3'. Three out of four of us watched 'Snakes on a Plane' together the other night. We like to pick movies apart so sometimes the stupider the movie is the better.

happy I am a die hard book fan. My parents tell me I learned to read at the age of 3, probably because everyone in my family read to me as a baby. Since my mother did not have a TV and both sets of grandparents doled out TV in very small doses reading was our entertainment. I too would have a hard time naming a favorite genre because I read it all fact or fiction, historical, present day, futuristic, sci fi, whatever. I do prefer books in a series because that is my version of TV, I just can't wait to find out what the characters will do next.

 My co-workers and I said a quick prayer at lunch today as soon as we saw the story on the news. Most of us have family living in at least one of the states affected. I will keep you all on our lunch prayer list.
