I am a Java programmer... now I know by the time you read this I may be off line and in all likely will be...
I am working on Network programming specifically for chatting and file transfering... You'd think I'd have someone to bounce this off ... I do not though...feel like I am bothering people asking them to try my software.. so I thought I'd throw it out there for anyone willing to guinea pig for me care to test it out and critique it for me...RIght this second I am about half way through the file server and the instant messaging is finished ... pretty much runs like a top... though I did have complications once the .jar file was finished... in other words might not run properly unless dropped into a compiler and cannot just double click on it..prolly will run right though e-mail me if you care to test it for me... Unfortunatly I would need me on the other end as the server is run on my computer... |

Put it this way...
When I was 16 I was getting checked out all the time...Even by older married women.... I think I could off possible gone somewhere with them right then and there had I just said something... This girl used to stare at me with "oh my god you are great!!!" written all over her face... \ and None of them and I mean not a single solitary one (except for on a seldom occasion ) ever said anything at all first... This might differ depending on whom you ask (guy that is)..because the guy would initiate engaging in the conversation first (before anything was said) and it was only natural to say something after that... But once in a blue moon did they say something first |

True the online tutorials are pretty nice... kind of tedious work though as good of an idea as they are... for some reason it's doubtful many will complete them... on the other hand my school text books give a strong working knowledge of any type of material ( I tend to finish books more then I do tutorials but I am a strong reader) That site is good ... I downloaded an entire book on Java networking (web internet related material)... I am making Java chat & file servers and browsers ect..) so it is a good addition to my read list. |

Yeah my web design class had me going to the w3c as well. It does have good simple coding practice for beginners. On the other hand
is my college text book.. True OReilly does publish a good book; however, they are slightly dated code wise. Meaning that if the code does not work you are left to wonder if it is a mistake or just old code (happens every once in a while). With more current books you can pinpoint the source to your code providing you have the latest edition. If you want I can download the first two chapters from my school but thats all I can do electronically via download. Hope this helps. |

processor question

Yeah I agree with them.... more then sufficient to run properly... though I am not overly familiar with the mentioned CPU's... I do have a AMD Turion on mine with similar overall specs... The configuration can improve performance (according to school readings) quite positively (configuration is dual - quad core for multi processing) but another thing to look at is FSB or bus speed. Anything close to 1000 Mhz or over is good..slower FSB's can hinder performance by not delivering data to the ALU's (main processing component) and can make a dual core useless..one reason hardware will not live up to software specs when it should according to it's own specs...what software program is it?? a game??
