I never said I agreed with everything he did. I am saying that in some things he missed the mark but he did other things right. He's not this bafoon people call him.

History will be kind to him... depending on our future. I'm betting that if we get attacked again people will be flocking to the REPS.

I think history shows that.

Hmmm.... there's something to look forward to! Keep a good thought, Quickie...

Obama has what it takes!! However, no matter what he does, he still has to overcome eight years of terrible policies and decisions by George W. Bush. I think it will take a lot longer to repair the world's opinion of America. At least now we have a President who cares what the world thinks!

Just because it was illegal didn't stop abortions from happening! Women bled to death in alleys with coat hangers rammed inside them...or died of disease, or were forever scarred and damaged. How is that good for society? How many lives were lost that way? Isn't that disgusting??
I don't think women set out to get pregnant so that they can joyfully kill their unborn children. No one I know is in favor of killing babies. These decisions are hard for most to make, but they should still have the choice. The "don't have sex" argument does not apply to rape victims or victims of incest. Sure, having sex or not is one of the choices. That. also, is a private decision. If that choice is taken away, though what then?
I say, if you are a believer, let what ever God you believe in sort this stuff out on the other side!

Given the last twenty years or so... I think it's pretty obvious whom the Republicans are representing. Corporations and the good-ol'-boy network are alive and well! Obama brings the first ray of hope for peace and prosperity normal middle class Americans have had in a long eight years! And these people who say, "I'm voting McCain, but I want Obama to win,?" What's up with that mentality? And who seriously could support someone like Sara Palin?? For real?? If I was a Republican, I'd be embarrassed by McCain's choice! Not because she's a woman,(I'd have voted for Hillary Clinton proudly!) but because she's an idiot! Actually though, from my "proud to be liberal perspective", I am relieved that McCain demonstrated his lack of good judgment early on before we made the mistake of electing him.
Don't misunderstand me here. I respect John McCain for his service to our country, and am sad he endured such horrors we can only imagine in captivity as a POW. My Father is a Vietnam Vet, and I see how he still suffers from his experiences there. Men like them are heroes! But that isn't enough to be elected President. McCain is known for his short temper, which in my "opinion" wouldn't play well on the international front as we find ourselves confronted with new challenges in this unsettled world.
Obama has demonstrated calmness and well thought out points of view, and strikes me as someone who would think about the outcome of his actions, and surround himself with competent people to advise and assist him in bringing about this timely change! He's not a fly off the handle hair trigger kind of guy. I feel he will help provide great stability in an unstable world. PRESIDENT OBAMA!!!!! (Buh Bye King George and all your Merry Men rich crone friends! Buh Bye tax breaks for the top 5% and oil companies while the rest of us go belly up!! Hello peace and prosperity and the return to life liberty and the pursuit of happiness for ALL Americans!! )

For those who support John McCain...
Better luck next election!
I have many good friends who are "REPS". I like them! I'll still be their friend, but I don't want another helping of the Right Wing rhetoric we have heard for many years. It's quite clear the "Trickle On" Economics is a failure, and it's time to shift gears and grow the economy from the bottom up. Tax the rich, take away tax breaks for oil companies, regulate the profits they can earn. If we must drill off shore, keep American oil in America! Protect our environment! Put Americans instead of the Chinese back to work again and return the United States to the people who made this country great.
$700 BILLION to bail out Wall Street? Why not instead divide that money equally among hard working Americans, and allow the system to work the way it's supposed to? What would you do with a 2 million dollar windfall? Maybe... pay off your mortgage? Build a new house? A car? Health insurance? Start a Business? Go to school? Pay your taxes? And if that happened, would there be a recession still, or wouldn't the system work the way it was supposed to? Wall Street would still end up with a lot of that money, banks would be saved, and the people would have what they need to survive and prosper.
Why are we so quick to help other countries, but so reluctant to help out our own citizens? Why can an illegal alien gain access to medical care when I as a citizen of the most powerful nation in the world am refused unless I can pay? Why is it that a veteran who was willing to give his or her life for the United States
can't get decent health care or welfare assistance? I hope these and many other issues will be resolved in an Obama Presidency!! I have to go now! Go Obama!!!!!

" The Americans are losing! We are repelling the American Infidels!! They cannot win!!! "
McCain sort of sounds like that these days!

Yay!! Down with coal!!! The jobs the coal miners lose will be replaced with jobs in green technology! Coal is out dated! The damage strip mining does to the landscape is unforgivable, and if you will recall, underground coal mines are unsafe and not properly regulated and pose a significant risk to the miners and their health. Nuclear power may help in the short term, but is not practical due to the problems with the waste, security risks, etc. Wind power, solar, and ideas we haven't even thought of yet are around the corner, as well as ways to make current technologies cleaner and safer. Development of these technologies will bring new jobs and save our economy as well as our environment!! Rejoice in the fact we will have a leader who supports all of these options, and who will protect our environment and help put America on the cutting edge of environmentally sound technology. America will lead the way for the rest of the world by setting the standard! Americans are known for their ingenious inventions! We are about to enter one of the most prosperous times in our history! This is exciting!! GO OBAMA!!

Why would any sane woman wait until the last minute, or far enough along in her pregnancy for the fetus to survive anyway? That to me is wrong. Is that common? But still, I support a woman's right to make decisions regarding reproduction and her own body, and doctors who for medical reasons, say, the life of the mother, who decide that a late term abortion is in order. Good things could come from abortions... like stem cell samples for research, perhaps saving countless lives! Palin is against all abortion... regardless of the reason whether it be rape, incest, or for the health of the mother. I hope she never is elected to any position of power ever again!
Perhaps through education and frank discussion with our children and young people we can curb unwanted and unplanned pregnancy, and thus minimize the number of abortions in the U.S. Seems to me that in that case, both sides could win!
And as far as the morality of these decisions, if you are a believer, then won't God take care of it all on judgment day?
I resent laws that try and impose morality over such a private issue as an unwanted pregnancy! What a relief it will be that we will have a liberal President who will appoint liberal Supreme Court Justices who will undoubtedly support a woman's right to choose! Go Obama!!!

This story is another attempt by hateful right-wingers to smear a good man! Look forward to more such cowardly attacks on President Obama's character. Remember not to believe everything you read! Let his actions as President color your opinion of him and his administration. My guess is you'll see grace, honesty, and dignity restored to this office that had been sorely lacking in the last eight years.

I'm sure if there is any little thing out of line, Republicans will magnify it into something terrible! I remember when Dubya was selected... I was willing to give him the opportunity to do his job (what choice did I have?) and tried to view his term in office with an open mind. I quickly realized that my worst fears about him were true, and pretty much predicted he would get us back into war in Iraq, create policies to help the rich and neglect the rest of us, and would generally be an economic disaster for our country. I hope your fears don't come true about Obama, and, like me, you will have an open mind and be willing to give him the chance he deserves.

Bush was Selected by the Supreme Court in 2000....
The election was stolen in 2004... Why John Kerry didn't fight that I will never understand... but he didn't.

What's **** Chaney hiding about his energy policies? Why all the secrecy surrounding that issue? Perhaps because it was a plan to help make their rich friends in the energy industry lots of money on the backs of hard working Americans?
Speaking of Republican lies, what about this war in Iraq? Where were those WMD's? We still haven't found any.... Oh well, maybe that's not the reason we were there... maybe it was to eliminate Saddam? Ok we... we achieved that goal... now why are we there? Oh yes... to establish a democracy. Ok... hows that working out? Did we achieve that goal? Now why are we there... to secure the Iraqi Government? Ok... the surge worked. NOW why are we there? Oh yes. We will be there until the Iraq government and the people want us to go. Hmmm. Seems to me that the Prime minister recently agreed with Obama's plan for a time table to be out in the next couple of years. Yet still, we remain. I for one would like a little "Straight Talk" on these issues!

I think the Republicans are sore losers and are looking for any convenient way to try and undermine the reputation of this good man! It's sad, really. Let me make a prediction! The Republicans in Congress and the Senate will do everything in their power to try and destroy and derail Obama's presidency in much the same way they attacked Bill Clinton...to no avail! It will be amusing to watch Republicans squirm as Our New President and a Democratically led legislative branch pass new programs and policies that benefit the common man instead of Wall Street! It will be good to see the United States returned once again to the status of being a nation who is a true leader of the free world and a country I can once again be proud to be a citizen of; a peaceful nation that can show other nations how we can resolve differences at the negotiations table instead of the battle field!
Another prediction? Obama's rise to Presidency of the United States will trigger economic confidence around the world and avert what would surely be a world wide recession/depression, thus ushering in one of the most robustly innovative and prosperous periods in the 21st century as we put Americans back to work rebuilding our crumbling infra-structure and create new industries and technologies to save energy and our environment.
Here at home? We can all breathe a sigh of relief that if something terrible, God forbid, were to happen to President Obama, our country will be in the safe and competent hands of Joe Biden, an intelligent and well qualified Vice President. So go ahead, Republicans! Spew your lies and ask your questions! The fact is you offered nothing new to the United States with the McCain-Palin ticket in a moment in history where we are so hungry for change and now must suffer the backlash of having installed a president that was a complete disaster to both your party and America, and indeed, the whole world! I am proud to cast my vote for the first African-American President! Go Obama!!!!
