I'm sure this "song and dance" has been posted before, but here it goes. I've been out of my last relationship for a little over a year now, got my heart broken ,and have been single ever since. Long story short, she dumped me 2 days after my mom was diagnosed with cancer. Yeah, it hurt, ALOT. I've only recently gotten over her after finding out some things she's gotten into (drugs and alcohol) and so there ya go. I'm definitely not an "asshole" or anything, and strongly consider myself a lover and a romantic. Basically, I always give 150% in a relationship, and get MAYBE 50% back. Obviously, I'm not finding the "keepers".
I've done this online dating thing, on NUMEROUS sites, for 6 months or so now, and I don't consider myself desperate (I've survived this long, haven't I? lol) but any messages I send out to what these sites consider to be my "matches", and after seeing if I'm interested, I never hear anything back from a single one of them. I always personalize the messages and whatnot, but I'm unsure as to what I'm doing wrong. I'm one of those who's "shy" (I'm confident, just shy) and have one HELLUVA time walking up to girls in person, which is half my problem, but I warm up quickly, its just that first "ice-breaker" that's nearly impossible for me. I'd humbly like some advice from those of you who can offer it, as I'd definitely like some ideas and/or pointers as to what I might be doing wrong, and how I might go about fixing it. Thanks in advance for the tips, as they'll all be much appreciated. |
