I am glad someone started this post. There is no doubt that Satan speaks through certain types of music. The bible said that Satan was a musician and speaks through his music. Many people do not know there is a type of music called "Black metal".It was started in the late 70's and has evolved into a dark, underground,Satanic movement still alive and well today but mostly unheard of.Bands with names such as Venom,Cradle of filth, and Gorgoroth are the heavy hitters with a large unground following. There are hundreds more bands of a lessor nature such as Marylin manson,Cannibal corpse,Bile, and others but just as destructive as far as spiritual corruption goes.Anyone who thinks this type of music is harmless if dead wrong.Young or old, take a person who is easily influnced and listen to this type of music and you will see a noticeable difference in personality:Lack of respect for life, more aggresion, and a spiral of depression and hopelesnes. That music speaks of death, destruction, violence, and total lack of respect for life and morals. It's not surpising that listening to that type of music would make you a more aggresive and evil type of person.

Much like the rap world the people who listen to this music often take it to the extremes.Murder, hate, beatings, violence, and Chruch burnings have all been directly linked to both the people who are playing music in these bands and the people who listen to them.People who listen to black metal and death metal get a thrill out of watching people die in real life from pro-death websites such as Nothingtoxic and others.Christianity and Christians are looked upon like a disease that must be cured.

I know I am going to get the usual crap from the usual people in here saying I know this guy that listens to that music and he is a harmless, bunny petting, sunday school teacher and "I listen to Venom and I am not like that".But I say to you if that is the case Satan either has not taken a interest in you because you have nothing to offer him,or you are such a week spirited person there is nothing for Satan to gain by corrupting you.The people who get hit the hardest by Satans wrath are probably the back sliding Christians who go to these shows.Satan knows he has a great deal to gain by corrupting and turning the Christians away from God.You will find that many of the people who murdered others because "the music told them to" were usually people who lived in nice houses and had a normal life. The Columbine killers are a prime example and facts show the type of music they listened to had a direct influnce on why they did what they did.You can say what ever you want but I speak as someone who formally in that scene before I turned to Christ.I saw these things first hand.I saw hundreds of bands in a 15 year period sometimes going to shows 3 times a week.I saw many of the death and black metal bands and I can say without any doubt Satan was alive and well in that room.I felt like the people around me was ready to stick a dagger in my back at any moment.Like the whole room would be consumed by fire.

You can call it harmless but I say otherwise.Go to a Cradle of filth show sometime and talk to the people there.See how many of them are pro-life.So how many go to church on Sunday.Ask them how much they respect life and morals. The majority of them are drunk, stoned, and would gladly burn a church down if they could get away with it.These people who support these shows are the scum of the earth. They keep evil alive and are all examples of Satan in flesh.I have no respect for the people who support that type of music and have boycotted the theaters and clubs that allow them to play there.

A taste of the Black metal shows

I can't believe I'm being so anal,so please excuse me. Black metal as we know it orginated in the lates 80s /early 90s and bands like Cannibal Corpse are Death metal, not black metal...

phew! had to get that our of my system...now to actually be serious...

I like what you said though I don't quite agree. I particularly don't like the way you throw people in to one bowl.
Based on your statements I get a thrill out of watching people die on some strange website I'd never even heard of. I don't deny that there are many bands that have a vile message (and I make apoint of avoiding them). I am also very aware of many bands that don't take themselves seriously and/or use lyrics as a way of getting a reaction out of an often placid population.

I think that you've made a good point by mentioning that lots of other musical genres have questionable content, but I none the less urge you to not judge people based on music. Everyone is very different.

I have over the years been to shows where people have been drunk though not stoned. Stoned and fast paced music don't mix well. I've been to shows where this has not been the case.

I guess I'm just saying that everyone functions differently. Personally I fin music with shallow, fluffy content agitates me much more than music that gets to the point (be it about social issues, zombies, fantasy whatever) and has a good heavy riff to it. It's a matter of taste and (with the exception of blatantly and seriously satanic bands) doesn't make someone more or less of a believer. It doesn't draw them away from God just because it sounds rough/different.

There is a large Christian community in the Metal music scene.Just open your eyes and try not to make assumptions. Most people are willing to at least listen to what you have to say (even if they don't believe/agree if you treat them with respect rather than approaching them with the "Me Christian! You dumb Satanist" attitude. Try it, you may be pleasantly surprised flowerforyou

I can't resist commenting any longer...

Don't you ever get bored of this back and forth? I'm right and you're wrong! No I'm right and you're wrong! You don't agree with me so you're delusional! No you're delusional because you don't think like I do! I'm better because I have the solution! No I'm better.... SHEESH!!! It's primary school all over again. My doll is better than yours because it talks !No mine is better than yours because it can eat and poo.... blablabla! explode

Saturnine....what's actually is delusional is for someone to log into a debating forum to complain about people debating

surely even in your life outside the forum you express your opinions to others which may differ from their opinion ...

all I did was express my opinion. In the same way that everyone else is saying what they think. You don't have to like it. It doesn't change my opinion and afterall this IS a forum

Saturine...yes as you just said a forum is a place to express your opinion and say what you think

but to come to a place where people express their opinions and say what they think just to complain about people expressing their opinions and saying what they think is ....er...how can I say this without offending anyone .....DELUSIONAL

I think you'll find I wasn't complaining about people simply expressing their opinions. I was commenting on the topic of the debate and that it's been done to death. But I guess it's just my opinion ,that in the same way you have your right to go on and on about a debate that has been raging for longer than anyone can remember, I can criticise it. Just as you can criticise my choice to do this and yet, I have to ask what has this achieved? I haven't changed my mind and you haven't changed yours. Thus my point is made.

Both sides of this argument are equally ignorant and irritating. Ever heard of live and let live? You leave me alone and don't stuff your views down my through and I'll do the same???? frustrated

And before anyone gives me a retort about how other so called Christians do this or say that,or for that matter what other belief systems or people (be it paganism or another another monotheistic religion, whatever). Other people do their thing and I do mine. It can be applied to anything. It's the classic 'if everybody else jumped off a cliff...' scenario.

This argument has been going round and round since it began however long ago and will continue to do so. When have people ever been able to agree on anything?! Can't everyone just get on with their lives and focus on other issues? If people put this much energy into solving things like poverty it would be erradicated! flowerforyou

My very first experience in a Baptist church almost cost me my left hand.

My daughter's mom, shortly after we got together, talked me into going to church with her.

There I sit with my long hair, having listened to some Heavy Metal music on the way to the church, and the preacher just happened to pick that particular Sunday to have a sermon about eh " Evils " of Heavy Metal music.

I have always been one to question people who make broad claims...and this would have been no different.

When I heard the preacher say " It's either good Christian music, or it's spawned from THE DEPTHS OF HELL!!!! " my daughter's mom IMMEDIATELY grabbed my left hand and put an absolute deathgrip on it to keep me from saying anything...lmao

Of course, later in life, I managed to get banned from another ( completely unrelated ) Baptist church for asking a simple question of the preacher.

Another ex talked me into going with her. The preacher was a real Hellfire and Brimstone kind of guy. She leaned over to me and whispered ( in the middle of the sermon ) that the preacher had had a heart attack while preaching a couple of years before.

So...on the way out...in the greeting line...it finally came to be our turn to say something to the preacher, praise the sermon or whatever...and I asked him...

I hear that you had a heart attack while preaching once.

He said " Yes sir. I certainly did. Only by the grace of God am I here today. "

I looked at him and said... " Think maybe that was God's way of telling you that you needed to mellow out??? "

Yeah...I got banned for that.

* shrugs *

Unfortunately there are many ignorant hatred filled people that hide right in front of our faces (i.e. the pulpit) Being a metal fan myself I've encountered this more often than I care to count. I have many friends who are Christian and sport the typical hairy rocker look and they all have similar stories to tell.

Thankfully there are many others who have actually read their bibles and know better than to judge people based on appearance or musical preference. It's all about what's on the inside, which for music is the lyrics.

Then of course there is the factor of country music (usually said to be clean and prim and proper...), which generally uses the same instruments as rock/metal bands.
That can only give one of 2 conclusions - Either it's all evil (not that the screaming bigots would agree) or it really is about content (that's the suspiciously logical and rational option - it'll never catch on laugh )

Mine will always be Amazing Grace. I used to be a militant atheist until it hit me like ten tons of bricks that God is very much real and out there. I've had my ups and downs like any other person, but the gap in my heart was filled that day and Amazing Grace really sums up how I feel

I think the issue is more similar to certain aspects of the Soviet system, for example, they pushed Lamarkian evolution which is a known nonstarter, therefore how do you teach Xian values and faith, while still providing an actual real world education?

I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean with this. Could you elaborate?

I haven't got children, but I still pay attention to topics that concern parents.

In the UK evolution theory is now compulsory on the national curriculum and I find it worrying that children are increasingly being encouraged to turn their backs on the idea of God.
At my nephew's school the birth of Jesus has been stuffed into the same category as Cinderella and other fairy tales (this is a C.of E. school I should add). I find this disturbing to say the least. I am aware that the state schools have to comply with what the government thinks the people want (and whether we like it or not, society is more secular), but I still worry about the situation. If I have children I would obviously teach them that God created the world. The prospect of sending them to a school where they will be told this is wrong and foolish fills me with dread.

How are you dealing with the prospect (or reality) of sending children to school in such a hostile environment?
I know my example is based on the UK, but I'd like to get as many view points as possible.

I don't live in the US, therefore I don't feel the need to check the first amendment. Do bare in mind that other countries have differnt laws.

air can be seen in LA? I'm genuinely curious about that, could you tell me more?

so cartoons depict real life? Perhaps I didn't explain that one very well. I meant reality with reference to the cartoons. Unless of course Bugs bunny is you neighbour?

So whether someone believes what scientists say is not belief? you just read something that's classed as scientific and accept it and know it's true? That's interesting considering how many scientists contradict themselves. (and yes I know people within religions do this too)

if it's only a theory, why is it replacing creationism in schools? I know, creationism has not been 'proven' either (it is a matter of faith and belief), but surely both sides of the argument are being unreasonable?
As a response to not being able to see God and therefore not having proof: You can't see air and yet people believe that's what we breathe. The moon landings are another hotly disputed area, just because it's on TV does that mean it's real? We all know cartoons aren't real and they're on TV.

As for the scientific argument (in this case evolution). Scientists also said the earth is flat and that the sun revolves around us. They then later established this wasn't the case. Or is it? It's all a matter of what people believe.

statements like I believe in global warming/ I don't believe in global warning are common place.

It all boils down to belief and having faith in what you believe.
