Some can get along, some can't. To me the biggest trend I see is that as soon as people identify themselves as part of a group, a group from which others are excluded, they immediately begin to treat non-members less courteously and frequently treat them as automatic adversaries.

i don't get it...from my last post it appeared that there is no requirement for how smart you have to be to be religious. how young is too young to be able to understand what God really is? I don't believe any of us will ever understand what God really is while we are alive. So we will always be too young. |

...get tired of debating on religion, and never come to any understanding. I'm one of the most passionate debaters on here (at least i feel it that way), but honestly I feel so tired. It's always going and going in circles without an ending. I need a little bit of time off. Yes!
I do like to hear others views but once again it seems we have gotten to a point where a question is an accusation, every difference of opinion an attack. I think it is nice that people feel strongly about there beliefs but I don't understand why they become so very angry with those who don't agree with them...

But thank you for sharing your thoughts. Perhaps in time you will change your mind. Perhaps not. I certainly don't think marriage is neccesary for a happy life or is a great relationship. It's just something we both want to do. Sounds like a great start. Best of luck! I am happy for you. JB Thanks!

I don't imagine I could ever let someone else tell me what I can and cannot believe. It's just beyond my comprehension. It's like being married.
Hey, wait a minute... I'm getting married!?!? But he would never tell me what to believe...
You are getting married? I wish I could talk you out of it. 
JN Why? Not all marriages are the same... I have had my doubts to be sure... But doesn't everyone? 
The better question to ask is why get married? You want to raise children? Do you have any interests in common? Will you still like the guy when he is old and grumpy and when the sex is no more? I don't like marriage because it is a contract with the State. But that is my personal opinion. JB We like to argue with each other. We definitely have that in common. I'm not sure why we wouldn't want to have sex anymore even if he is grumpy... but of course it happens.
The main reason we are getting married? We have talked about it and it's actually more meaningful to him than to me. He believes god brought me to him. I don't necessarily agree with that aspect but I do love him and love being with him. And now we want to celebrate our love for one another and mark the beginning of a new part in our lives where we have decided to do everything possible to help one another with our goals and challenges. We are committed to doing everything we can to make our lives together the best they can be. I don't think of it as a contract with the state but a pledge between the two of us. The Pantheistic God don't have an ego. It doesn't demand anything from anyone. all god have egos ...or their name would be joe or fred not god funches can i say in one sentence to define your position that: There is no God whatsoever? my position is that it's impossible for a god to prove to a believer that he is absolutely their particular god I disagree- by definition they are already "believers" so it should be relatively easy for that god to prove to that person that they are who they want them to be. |

Strength to you both.
Don't get discouraged- it happens to many. My boyfriend's daughter had a similar episode late last fall. So sad to see her so unhappy and lost. She is much better now. Hopefully your daughter will emerge stronger and more able to cope in the future.
