Guess it really depends on where you live...what kind of lifestyle. I've lived in Manhattan for three years...a car was a liability. Same thing in other cities worldwide...Paris, London, Hong Kong. I don't put much mileage on my car in D.C. because I live on Capitol Hill, and walk, take Metro or cabs. But I would think wheels essential in most of the world. Perhaps the question you don't want to hear first from someone you might date is, "So, what KIND of car do you drive?" laugh

This just in the Mingle Newsroom...

A new study released today said American productivity has unexpectedly plummeted. Further, government sources said it's unclear exactly why worker productivity continues to fall. However, on the plus side, the same sources note an equally astonishing increase in the number of friendships and romantic relationships nationwide during the same period. We have no film...at 11 or any oher time. laugh

DO you judge a person's character by your pet's reaction to them?

I do the reverse, I judge their character by the way they react to my pet.flowerforyou

Me, too! flowerforyou

when something had you really upsetsad sad (save the loss of a loved one), does it really matter to you now?what what

My life is a blackboard. It is marked by actions and events...words and thoughts. Most are good...some less so. But I don't choose to go back an erase anything...selectively disavowing what has contributed to me being me...for better or worse. Very few people I've ever known live in the past...almost a cliche. I try to live it as simple as possible...always keep an open mind. Never fret about things that might or could happen. And when things do happen...learn from them. Correct mistakes and flaws...we all have them. Learn and practice tolerance. Wisdom doesn't come automatically at any age...I am still trying to apply my knowledge, understanding, experience, discipline, discretion and intuitive nature to my own problems and issues, and I hope the problems of others about whom I care.

Well, Q-Man, when you finish slumming through the NM catalog, hit this site and pick out your personal yacht...keep in mind these aren't cruise ships...they're personal boats. It's all relative, I guess...these people wouldn't think of going to a department store or catalog like Neiman-Marcus! laugh whoa

<-----As some of you know, I am meeting the love of my life two days before Thanksgiving...so I am ecstatic...in sharp contrast to last year. Some of those posting here have been especially kind and sweet in recognizing my joy and wishing the very best for us...

So, to ledi180, peladac and delilady - three beautiful women in every sense of the word - I wish you each happiness with your special someone. And may that equal my happiness... I could wish for you nothing better! happy flowers

When you're having a bad day, or even just a so so day, what kind of things never fail to make it better?

Simply reminding myself how fortunate I am...then I smile, and maybe that makes someone else a better day.happy Honestly, don't have many bad or so-so days!

Well, it's 2009...sad that people miss out on something because of "convention" or "old-fashioned" attitudes. Nothing wrong with being old fasioned, of course. It's your life...if you don't agree with a woman asking you out...you probably wouldn't get along very well anyway! laugh

I am not sure if people are angrier these days, but being able to post in forums, from a computer, not face to face, people think they can say whatever they want. However they want. No matter how angry it is.

Hmmm... good point. I wonder if the Internet has led to people being angrier? Still, seems I see more people in public expressing their anger than in former years...not just online.

apparently because I'm here friend and also a woman, I'm supposed to be on "her side". I told her I wasn't on anyone's side. I was just telling my opinion on the matter. Then I asked her, how will you ever resolve anything if you're only getting biased opinions and help?

Atta girl! Good advice...good friend. She'll come around...or not! Often when people accuse someone else of something - like your friend did about her BF's"wanting to cheat" - they're projecting what they might do in that situation.

Hell, Q-Man...that's not anger...you're still fightin' with last week's chili! laugh

I don't think it is so much anger as stressed. We live in a time where there are more expectations placed on us, more single parent homes, and more 2 income families just to get by.

I think the younger you are the more likely you are to act out your anger in public. Older people grew up in a more controlled environment where we were disciplined by everyone in our lives-parents, teachers, neighbors. Today, no one is allowed to say anything to youth without consequences. We have enabled the youth of our country to pretty much act however they please.

As parents we have given to our children much more than in previous generations and we have catered to their every whim. We make sure they have the latest electronics, are in organized sports where everyone makes the team and everyone plays and we no longer keep score so no one child's feelings are hurt. So when children become young adults they do not know how to act when they are faced with disappointment.

 waving

Are Americans angrier today than in the past? Or do we simply have fewer inhibitions about acting out in public and no longer let anger seethe beneath the surface? Some say increasing narcissism today makes us upset when we don't get what we want...really? Three related questions...take your pick or opine on all three...
