Just a question here. It seems that as I meet women my age (61) they tend to have shorter hair. That's ok with me I don't have a preference about that and it's their hair anyway! Most lady friends I have with short hair say it's just easier to deal with. Makes sense to me. opinions?

What is RELIGION?

I agree that religion is a belief system. I think Jesus came not to establish a religion, but a spiritual kingdom where we join the family of God, not the religion of God.

Having already been through the "younger woman" thing, I have a few reflections. First the younger woman and I are still friends but that is all we"ll ever be. Women around my age have so much more to offer. They are every bit as attractive, usually more intelligent, and we have a more rounded relationship. I won't say a guy cannot have a relationship with a younger woman, just that being with a woman our own age is just a much better thing!

I believe with all my heart that Jesus died for me. I remember one person said "if anyone wants to know who Jesus died for, they need to go look in a mirror".

Must we add to God's word?
|
|
I am told the bible is subject to intrepretation. I guess because people want to make it relevant to their lives, not people who lived all those years ago we read of in the bible. Seems to me the values, the truths, the story of Jesus, are timeless things. Since Jesus said Himself, "My kingdom is not of this world", things become a little clearer. The bible is not about relevance but is about a spiritual relationship with the Lord, how He wants that with us and how we can have it. The world's values in Jesus' time, the worlds values now mean little or nothing. God's values are what is important and they don't change. People change, God does not. To me it's ok to see something in the bible and wonder and discuss what it means. Maybe it says the same thing to all people but when people read it, they don't dissagree with it, they just see how it affects their lives;everyone life and situation are different. Opinions?

Must we add to God's word?
|
|
Having been a bible school teacher (for the deaf) I have noticed something. People seem to add to what they read in the Bible. The color of God or Jesus seems important to some, women's or men's rights,is it relavent to today (read let me correct this). I wonder why. Doesn't it seem right that at some point in our reading God's word, it occurs to us that this is really God's word; and if it is God's word, we should leave it alone. I don't mean to say that we should not read the entire verse to see the complete statement, but should we add worldly ideas or properties to the Bible?

Negros in the Bible

The Bible does not contain racial topics of any kind. It mentions different tribes, people, cultures but not color. Seems that God knew that if one color was mentioned for say Jesus, then people of that color would say "see, He's one of mine". Do you really think that the God who created everything we see and know of, even ourselves, is concerned about a person's skin color? Jesus died for everyone, of all colors. How could he die like that and still represent one
brand of human being? Being that Jesus did come from what we know as the middle east, he was probably brown. On the other hand, maybe he was black. It just does not matter. His earthly body was just a vehicle for him. That body was given as a perfect sacrifice for all men, all colors, all cultures....everyone. Ron |

life after 60

Hi vivian! The thing about women ignoring men 60+ was something a friend mentioned to me on my birthday. I think she was just playing.
The thought made me wonder about that so I posted it to see different opinions. We'll see what happens. Nice to meet you...Ron |

OK, trying again. Tried to post and it just went away. so this may show up twice. Anyway, I'm from Austin Texas, big time Longhorn fan
and kinda reluctant state employee. Guess you gotta do something! I look forward to meeting some people, chat, whatever comes up. I just broke the 60year barrier, so I'M not sure what chat room or group would be appropriate for me. Could someone help me with that? Be talking with you....Ron |

life after 60

Hi, I am new to this site. I have passed the 60 year mark (heavy sigh)and have a question for anyone in the same situation. The interests remain the same and nothing seems to have changed except the age number. Many have told me age is just a number and I guess that's true but it's getting to be a big one! I wonder if anyone has an opinion on this. Does a single 61 year old guy get pretty much ignored by the single female population? I don't think so but I am interested in any comments. Thanks Ron
