tonight there was a fight
it was her vs me
when i looked into her eyes
it wasnt what i was expecting at all to see

she looked tired and frail
her eyes swollen from the tears
there were signs of stress written upon her face
from the many mistakes she had made throughout the years

she looked nothing like i had remembered
it was as if i was meeting someone new
i didnt want to appear rude
but desperatly i wanted to ask.."what happened to you?"

instead i waved hello
"it's nice to meet you"
she waved right back
" you already do"

the tears began to stream
and i was suddenly filled with fear
i realized who id be fighting...
it was my reflection in the mirror

for the arrogant and ignorant..let me "school" ya ..ghetto enough for ya? hahahah

DEFINITION:The culture of hip-hop has been the source of dozens of words and expressions in American English, of which rap is one of the most familiar. The word is probably a development ultimately of rap meaning "to hit." It shows up in the early 1900s in the extended meaning "to express orally," as used by so notable a figure as Winston Churchill in 1933. Over the next few decades it came to mean "to discuss or debate informally," a meaning that was well established in the African-American community by the late 1960s. A decade later the word was applied to an evolving style of music characterized by, among other things, beat-driven rhymes of an often improvisatory nature. The slang that is integral to the lyrics of rap continues to be a source of borrowings into colloquial American English; recent examples include chill, meaning "to calm down," and dis, meaning "to show disrespect to." These are but the latest examples in a long series of such borrowings from Black English stretching back a century or more, many of them directly from popular music lyrics or from musicians' lingo.

---sounds like music to me.

It may look that way to people who don't know better, but since there is no melody, it isn't.
Instead, it is rudimentary, often featuring a simplistic rhythm using eubonic utterances and a monotonous common beat.

At BEST it could be considered a common urban form of poetry.
But, that is being extremely generous.

know better? and when did you become educated enough to tell when someone " don't know better"?

sitting here, tears streaming down my face
i inhale another drag off of my cigarrette
never thought this would be me......
never thought id ever be so low

so many dreams i have waited for to come true
too many goals left unfulfilled
failure after failure, always one step behind
wrong place, wrong time... the story of my life

i struggle to go on from day to day
wondering why i continue to continue
bills are piling up, not enough money to go around
no one understands there is a mouth i have to feed

stress and tension is a normal accurance
wonder what its like to go a day without having a headache
that empty feeling in the pit of my stomach
when my child asks why i always say " not this time honey i dont have enough money for that today."

when does it end....
when do things get better?
when does a person finally have enough?
when do you give up the hope of a better life?

i inhale again...last cigarrette..
i exhale...and begin to pray..once more

do you understand what you've done to me..do you
you've turned me into someone i never thought id be
afraid to trust, afraid to love, afraid to speak
afraid to look into the mirror, afraid of the reflection i might see

my innocence forever lost
taken by the hands i thought would hold me
but instead they slithered their way up to my throat
and choked the life from me

you said you were sorry
but i knew that was a lie
i knew you found enjoyment in making me cry
i could see it everytime you stared into my eyes

never ashamed, it made you a man
always had to prove your point
i was always in the wrong
never did anything quite right

i finally got the courage
to walk away and leave you behind
but you were right
you would always be a part of me

you still control me
probably without even knowing
i cant do anything without that fear taking over
i wish it would all just disappear

i wish i knew how...
wish i knew how to let go
