I live in Traverse City , Mi. and we have a lot to do. Outdoor skating and skiing, hiking, snowmobile, cross-country skiing and plenty of places to just walk and take wonderful photos. We are on 2 bays right off Lake Mich. We have 2 Casinos within 12 miles of our downtown. Our downtown is by the Bay and you can walk to all kinds of clubs, eateries and shops. We have very professional stage shows at 2 places downtown. National acts come to the casinos and to Interlochen, Mi. 10miles south and west of us. International arts and music school That have live shows year around. A ton of hotels in downtown area and along the Bay. 12 ski lodges close to us. At least 10 or more wineries that are open for wine tasting year around. We are the Cherry Capital of the US. Chamber of commerce will be glad to give you lots of information!

Give it all the hep you want, BUT at 49 it (honestly)is not better (for the most part). How many of you would not become 23-28 again in a New York minute if you could? BE honest!! I look pretty good, but I sure would change if I could (especially knowing what I now know!) I'll never be a size 8 again, and goodness knows I've tried!

LONG term relationship

Has anyone else found that you cannot get someone off the computer long enough to talk on the phone, or meet, or date, let alone develope a (long?) relationship. After 3+ yrs one one date site and 4 mo on another, it seems to me everyone just want to type and then after 3 e-mails and maybe 1 phone call (only 2 men actually followed through and called), poof--they're gone. IF they keep in touch, all they want to do is e-mail. Two men live 14-20 miles from Traverse City and have no moved towards meeting at all. One man I met, but although I've met him twice at music functions (we're both musicians), there has been no such thing as a date. I've tried to set something up that was simple for a few hours--no way, always an excuse. I have given up on him and pretty much on the idea of dating in the T.C., Mich. area. So far I'm not real sure about all this computer dating stuff. There have been no dates!

To: "3 wks is too long". I would guess with that attitude and mode of operation your company might become wearing after 3 day. But to each their own and gooood luck!

NOW that reply is probably closer to the truth---MIRACLE! Because it is so very rare and happens so seldom. This is in answer to the gentleman who said,"love is..Miracle"

How about 2? Trust and faith. Then after that you can only hope and pray----a lot!!! Not sure if I believe in "love" any more.

That is the truth!!! I can say that after almost 15 yrs of being single again. In Traverse City, Mi. The 1 church singles adult group meets once a month on a Monday?? I went once and everyone was well over 60!! I took one look and left. I'm in my 40's. I tried L&S christian site. had to pay a fee to talk to anyone and everyone was out of this state--mostly. As with most computer date sites christian or otherwise, everyone want to "type" not meet and talk. After years of church, when you are over 27 you really don't meet people to date. Sadly after a lifetime of christian school, college and churches this has been my experience. I sure hope SOMEONE out there has had better luck than I've had. Think God is meaning for me to go it alone. I'll have to ask Him that question when I see him!

Hi Guys, For a small town T.C. can be a bit tough to date/meet people in if you are over 40. Moved back 6 yrs ago and even though I'm a musician and do get out and about(nope, don't live in "Bars")people just don't connect. Maybe they are all home typing on these darn computers--beats me. I've only had a computer 4 months.
Sooooo, gentlemen of T.C. are you out there? Can you meet someone face-to-face and talk on the phone and not take 3 mo. of"typing" to do it? You do not have to be a musician (that is a plus), just a nice enough looking, average build guy who has a personality, sense of humor and can hold up his end of a conversation. Just want to simply date and maybe find a long term relationship(one-to-one). Does this interest ANYONE in the T.C. area?? Let me know! |

To Katrina transplant- So sorry you had to lose your home that way, actually any way. I spent 13 yrs in Fl. and no one can imagine the night mare of a hurricane unless you've been through it. We are so blessed here in N.Mich to not have that kind of weather. We can a tornado every 10 yrs or so, but usually have a lot of notice. I've lived in Gaylord and have friends there too. I now live in T.C. and you are partly correct in what you experience (sad to say), but living here and really looking beneath the survive there are so many basic, kind people. It does take some work to find them. The people who can plain about Cherry Festival, complain about anything and everything. The traffic? Live downstate and have it 10 times worse every day of the week! Sure there are things I don't care for, so I stay away from those activities. BUT there are so many OTHER things to like and such a wide range of things to do!! You are right it that it brings a lot of revenue in to the area and many people loss site of that. It also gives those of us who "love" this city a chance to talk to visitors about the positive aspects of T.C. I've seen way too Many people on the Michigan sites put this state "way down". Sure it is not perfect and T.C. is not perfect, no place is. It is one thing to give some constructive criticism which can be useful (such as yours), but all too often it is the other kind. I wish you well and may you kind more nice people that are in this area!

Musicians

O.K. Musicians out there defend yourselves! We are different BECAUSE we are (usually) a very creative bunch of people! WE learn the instrument of choice, maybe several of them and that takes a ton of time! We learn to sing vocals, sometimes several harmony or lead parts to EACH song! To do a full set in a club is 40min on stage and 20 off(if you are luck) Each set takes 8 to 10 songs depending on length for solo or group acts;band may play less, but the songs are longer arrangements. The bar gig are usually 4 or 5 sets a night. Do you sit on a break? No! You go talk to the "public" if you want to get and keep your following. You (usually) spend a fortune on stage clothes, sound equipment, lights, hi-tech computer gadgets, several of whatever instruments we play, AND a Van to tote it all in. Then most of us do not have people to fetch and tote, and run sound; WE have to do that too. WE design promotional sites and mail out material, or pay a bunch to have someone else do it. Many of us do not have Managers or accountants;we book the gigs and keep the "books" and do the taxes! THEN, in between we practice for hours and I do mean hours EVERY day. Have you ever written a song? words and music? Try it! It is not easy. You may like it, but in the back of your head you have to think, will it be usable and salable to the public. Yes, I may be "odd" or "crazy", but I work darn hard for the right to be a working musician! Right! Fellow Musicians!!

T.C. has a lot of nice people, but dating and being in your late 40's is tough! If decent, professional, working!, single/divorced, personable guys between the ages of 45-55, within 50miles of T.C. are out there they are hiding. Believe me, I've looked! Gentlemen, if I am wrong, talk to me. I'm willing to listen!

To all those who are bad-mouthing Michigan. Is anyone chaining you here? If you dislike it SO MUCH, save your pennies and leave! You will be in for a big surprise when you see what a rough time other states are having. The grass is not always greener in another state, sometimes they have no grass AND no water! The hurricanes, dust storms, fires, floods and dozens of tornadoes destroyed it all. Live in that kind of situation and you just may appreciate this state for the good things it STILL does have!
