I'm not a grammar nazi but seriously people, can we get the
phonetic spelling under control? Also I understand that there are no "edit" buttons to correct a spelling error but there is a definite difference between "your" and you're" or "there" and "their" these are NOT interchangable words. |

Leaving would mean greater problems. This is not a war that we can
afford to lose and saying that we should leave because we removed Saddam (after all isn't that why we invaded? NO!) is wishful thinking at it's most dangerous. Do I agree with the way the war is being fought? Not exactly, no but much like my favorite sports teams and the men who run them I have to figure that they know things about Iraq and terrorists in general that I don't know about. |

Thanks you Gardenforge, I was just about to post something to that
effect. Why is it we want to believe the worst out there? Is it because we really believe there's some global conspiracy (conservatives, liberals, jews, it's GOTTA be someone!)? Is it because we as Americans aren't happy unless we have something to be upset about (think back to the bird flu "scare" last year; know how many people died in the US from it? ZERO! Know how many died from "regular" flu? 61,472!) Or maybe it's just that the vast majority of people are braindead? In any case folks, stop worrying about stupid **** and get on with living your lives. Source: http://www.cdc.gov/flu/weekly/weeklyarchives2005-2006/05-06summary.htm |

Jean,in most states you're required to take both classroom time and
range time (in Texas I think it's 6 or 12 hours of each) using the sidearm you would be carrying so that you're familiar enough with the use that you can use it automatically. As for most people being responsible enough, well that might be just that they aren't used to them. I grew up in the country, started shooting at 8, learning firearm safety at my grandpa's hip, and I've been shooting ever since. In some ways it's no different than driving (and how many peopole a day do you yell at for being stupid drivers?) in that the more familiar you are with a gun/car the more comfortable you become with it. I don't think it's for everyone but the people that DO carry makes every criminal just a bit more wary about who's packing heat. |

That was something that my family was discussing a few weeks ago; that
you're not allowed to carry to certain places (some of which make sense- bars, sporting events, ect) but the one that stuck me was work and some of the other places, shouldn't they have a place for you to check your weapon? If you're otherwise legally allowed to carry but they don't want you to carry into the Stadium should they not provide a place for you to store your pistol until you come out? |

Global Warming
|

While I'm sure the earth's population's dependance on fossil fuels has
something to do with this I would like to point out two things: 1) I believe that the reports say that in the past 100 years the earth's average tempeture has gone 2 degrees. This is two degrees not 10, not 20, not even 5, 2. Maybe a bit wild over a natural cycle in the environment. 2) The earth's population has exploded from 1.65 billion people in 1900 to 6.45 billion people in 2005 (those figures are from wikipedia which i realize might not be the most accurate but we'll use it here). That population increase as well as the expected increase use of well... everything could explain it. Do I think global warming is a load of bull? Not entirely, but I don't think it's as bad as some would have us believe. Those individuals would blame every every natural disaster in recent memory on it; ask them about Pompei or what happened to Port Royal, Jamacia and they give you an answer something akin to "**** happens..." In any case I hope everyone will begin to recycle, pay more attention to their utilities/ energy loss, and purchase/lease automobiles that get better gas mileage. No matter if it's for economic reasons (why I do it) or environmental it will benefit you. |

2007 NFL Draft......

Curtis was let go because it would have been too expensive to keep him
on in what is a 3rd WR role in an offense that has gone to more of a 2 WR and 2 TE set last year and going forward. He will be a FA that teams will be looking at with his route running and his FIQ (I belive he scored a 48? on the Wunderlic), with good hands he'll be a target. However, he's best suited to a slot role and does not have the tools to be a number 1 guy (and he'll get #1 money somewhere). In any case the Rams will be looking to upgrade at KR/WR in the draft maybe the 3rd or 4th round after the defense has been addressed. |

Concealed carry is a wonderful thing Verbatimeb it turns every crime a
criminal commits into a game of russian roulette (except every chamber is loaded :D ). My mom has a permit, I had a permit (I let it lapse since I sold mine though I intend to go through th classes again soon) and truthfully everyone who feels comfortable with a firearm and can pass the applicable screening should have one. It wouldn't turn the clock back to the Old West since I think the rate of crimes commited by CC owners is somewhere in the .00002% range (of all crimes involving firearms, though I could be wrong) and every state that has passed a CC law has seen a drop in crime accross the board. |

Erinestrella, I'm sorry but the "violence doesn't solve anything"
argument holds no weight. If you'd like further debate perhaps we could have the city fathers of Hiroshima and Carthage debate it with the dodo bird and Hitler as referees. My point is is that violence has solved more issues in history than any other action. We're not talking of indescriminant violence here but rather violence (war) with the purpose of preventing our enemies from attacking us closer to home (the "road schedule" comment above). Will we win this war? Likely not in my lifetime nor yours, and likely not our children's lifetime's either. This is not a war that can be won with only guns or only words but a careful application of both. What we must do is show the enemy that the resolve of the free world is unshakeable and our will is iron. |

Don't mistake what I wrote as applying to only women, that's not
what I meant since I know that guys do it too, but rather just understand that people only change if they want to. Also, don't change just to please someone else either since you never know what the future holds. Does that mean you shouldn't pick up you shoes instead of letting them drop where they may? No, but trying to stop going clubbing and turning into a "housewife type" won't make you happier (though it might make who you're with happier) it'll only make you miserable and in the end you'll end up resenting them. Having said all those things (including the previous post) don't change; you seem like a thoughtful and mature (attractive too) young woman. To give you some advice from a song "Don't be reckless with other people's hearts; don't put up with those who are reckless with your's." |

I hate say it like this but... it's a dysfunction in the female
psyche. And before the lynching begins let me explain it like this: Have you ever known a guy who buys and old POS car (usually a "muscle" car)? Does he tell you that he's going to "fix it up... and make it a show car that everyone's goiung to drool over."? What does that car look like a year later? It looks the same just rustier! Well, women are the same, just with guys instead of cars. They tell you that this guy who cheats/hits them/uses drugs is a really great guy who they're going to change into someone their girlfriends are just wishing they could meet. In a year the only thing that's happened is that they're both a year older (but rarely any wiser) and the staus quo hasn't moved from center. I don't know why women are like this, perhaps it's a maternal instinct trying to "mother" the guy into what they want him to be. The only thing that you need to know is that a guy can only change himself; you cannot do it for him! In the end a guy can buy a Chilton's to fix his POS but there are no books to fix you POS boyfriend. If this sounds mysoginistic or too cynical I appologize that was not my intention; but, while there may be exceptions the rule stands firm. People can only change themselves. |
