That's exactly how I am approaching it too, instead of the "dating" mentality. It is a very slow process that way, and both people have to be really patient with developing the friendship. What happens to me sometimes is the person is swept off their feet by someone else before I have a chance to get to know them as a friend. :( oh well, I just figure it's fate, and when the right person comes along, that won't happen :)
