In preparation for what I want to do later, I'm studying mostly math and politics -- I'll be finished in two years, so I'll have to figure out what's the next step! I read, cook, study, talk about heavy stuff with friends (it's good and tiring) and...go clubbing! Also, studying languages is an obsession of mine (Chinese is pretty fluent, French not so bad, and I've recently begun Spanish). Today, technology advances faster than ever, but on the whole we do not grow any wiser. Our weapons are scarier than ever and even the once well-educated parts of the globe are slipping into mediocrity. I'm American, so it is America's problems that I'm most familiar with - the failing education and health care system, the unintelligent methods of diplomacy are just some things that I'm interested in working on. I've spent two years studying in China, learning not only the language, also things more difficult to quantify. Also, being away for two years really shows a kid what his family means to him. Despite this, I prefer the life I've found away from home...the experience has left me a different person - a person I still can't quite reconcile with the son my parents expect me to be. -- P.S. I'm also looking for a language exchange partner for Chinese, French, and Spanish...though mostly for Chinese. I'm willing to play around with other languages, particularly Japanese, Korean, Arabic, and Portuguese, but my attention is on the three languages I'm studying now, particularly on Chinese.
