I'd describe myself as a cynical optimist. Generally, I'm always happy and look for the good in everyone and every situation. However, with that being said, I've been around the block more than once, and I know what is out there. Not much shocks me anymore.
I'm a special education teacher and a full-time grad student. I would stay in school forever if they'd only stop charging me! I've heard a rumor that if you stay long enough....they start paying you and calling you professor ;)
I spend a lot of my time volunteering with the local animal shelter. I foster dogs, help with fundraising, and help out with adoptions at PetSmart. I love animals! Don't worry, though, I only have one permanent dog. My house is NOT a zoo. I promise!
I enjoy working on my house...fixing it up and what not. Well, in general, I enjoy learning to do anything new (except yard work). I like a good challenge. I'm building up the nerve now to strip and repaint my kitchen cabinets. I want to restore my house to all it's original 1950s spendor!
I like to travel, though I don't get to very much with the kids. We are going to St. Louis this fall! I love that city....
I read everything I can get my hands on. If I'm watching TV (and my kids don't have the remote) I watch Discovery Channel, TLC, NCIS, Criminal Minds, etc... I have to admit, I'm totally and absolutely addicted to True Blood on HBO. Sad, but true.
I'm not a big movie buff. I'll go if someone drags me or sticks a DVD in the player.
I'm religious and attend church regularly, but I'm not a Bible-thumper. IT's just an extension of my constant thinking and desire to learn. I'm Episcopal, and if you know anything about that, you'll know I'm open minded and accepting.
I think I'd really like to meet someone who has kids, first and foremost. That doesn't mean that I'll automatically disregard someone who doesn't, but I think we'd have more in common if we both had kids. I'd also like someone who is kind, compionate, and happy. I have to say the obvious...please have a job, be responsible, have a car (unless you are a walker), no criminal history, not married and no rehab stints in your past.
