my daughter is a year old and we took her to the doctor the other day, come to find out that the muscles in her eyes are messed up somehow. they said they are getting weak or something like that.so we have two things we can do. we are currently trying to eyepatch treatment.we switch eyes everyday, hoping that it will help the muscles get stonger, if that doesnt work, we have to go to surgery, and if that dont work, then shes gonna be blind....im so ****ing stressed right now, its unbelivable. she will never know what flowers look like, colors, nothing if this doesnt work. please pray for her. im so scared right now... if anyone prays, please pray for lily

GO FOR A SECOND OPINION. I'm, not kidding. We have a 4-year-old boy in our house who we thought (and specialists thought) had a lazy eye. It was really crossing terribly. They did the eye patch thing and everything and nothing worked... he did therapy a few times a week or months and months and didn't appear to show any improvement. They ended up taking him to an optimologist and sure enough he's just VERY farsighted. The problem was he couldn't focus on anything so his eyes were turning. Once they put glasses on him he quit having his eyes crossed.
His mother had a lazy eye as a child and they did the surgery and she's blind in one eye because of it ... and if her son was just that farsighted (nearsighted?) that he didn't really have a lazy eye, there's a good chance she actually had the same problem and is now blind in one eye for no good reason. Take your child to an optimologist before you have surgery. It could be more than worth the trouble. Good luck. |

I had to do the eyepatch treatment when I was 4 or 5. It worked for me, I am just a tad bit near sighted.
I will pray for your daughter. Just be strong. |

I agree about the second opinion thing. As well, you need to think positive and not worry about potentials or worst case scenarios right now. Take it day by day, for your child's sake.

I pray that the doctors can figure it out and her sight can be fixed.

Don't panic, get second or third opinion, eye surgery is way cool, (I am an OR nurse).Don't panic, she's not blind yet. When my brother was able to take apart the machine he used for eye therapy and put it back together they figured his eyes were good. That was over fifty years ago.

I had the same issue at birth. I would start crying and my eyes would turn to the whites because of the weak muscles. Corrective surgery at two years of age and here I am 49 years later. Whodathunk it? Try not to worry unless the doc says to. It's a common procedure. I will throw in a prayer for you both.
