It depends on how the "hi" is delivered, if it is in an email that is polite and non raunchy, yes, I respond, if it is interlaced in trash talk..no.

Besides where is it written that someone has to respond to every e-mail?

Just because I have a phone doesn't mean I have to answer it, and just because I have a front door doesn't mean I have to answer it either.... If someone doesn't answer my e-mail... oh well. NEXT. drinker
grumble I like writing raunchy emails:tongue:

I have all but given up on writing to people. With few exception had I even got a response whether it be positive or negative. As fortune would have it, probably the most beautiful woman on this site actually did write me back and said not interested. Kudos to her. The rest, well, that's why they're really not so awesome.

Peace

you are in an internet forum of communication to other adults that have joined for the purpose of getting to know others why would you be here if you were not going to communicate too...????????????????????

Exactly, if they don't want to communicate, they should go sign up with JustDon'tBotherMe.

So you don't say hello back to people you meet in public as well? Just seems rude to say nothing at all. Even a "Hey, you're kinda creepy, could you go away?" would work! Most people aren't asking for instant bonds, some just wanna get to know people, others just wanna do other things. Common decency has become so passe, can't wait for people to start shooting people for Just saying Hi! smokin

I always e-mail people back. It's women that send me the e-mails. Sometimes after an exchange or two though, they drop off. I figure it's a sign that they're not interested and as there's other fish in the sea and other folks that I think are interested, I just let the ones that don't reply slide. Sometimes people who don't reply are not replying because they're ill, off line, lost their connection or whatever. I had one person not respond and come back a week later and said she was ill, so there's all sorts of reason. And besides, we're not rude, we're American!

why is it rude to not answer? why do we owe complete strangers our time? why do we feel absolutely compelled to send out words to someone we've never met nor talked to?

i don't always answer...and i never will. i don't always answer my phone, either...nor return messages.

if there's a question or concern about the site, then i'll answer. other than that...it's hit or miss.

You are right, if you do not want to answer,...do not. But remember that two very good friends ,....some day were strangers,...but one of them gave a first step,....and,...surprise,...friendship!. But at the end is your choice!,.flowerforyou flowerforyou flowerforyou

I always reply to any emails that I recieve. Politness doesn't hurt or cost anything. If I don't want to have anything to do with a certain person/people, I will tell them. Thanks, but no thanks.
As I only recieve a few mails anyway, I have no great reason not to reply.
All the mails I do recieve are from friends anyway.

random question... how does mutual match even work... i mean, where do those people come from? they just seem to show up once in awhile and you have to say yes/no/maybe... how can you decide without chatting?
am i missing something?

I agree... how can you decide based on looks alone? Although I have tried it... the guy said lets play a round of 20 questions... so I asked one, he asked one..this went on until I guess i got an answer wrong and he never replied back.

I think it is rude to not answer an email, even if the answer is, sorry I am not interested. We just need to remember that not everyone will like us and not get offended when we are turned down. I try to answer every email, I have left one or two unanswered if the person was to persistant... not into stalkers and I do NOT beieve in love-at-first-email

Oh trust this... if an email is bad enought, they get a response, and for some reason I never hear from them again. Yes, sometimes on the street I reply with a hello, but sometimes I don't, depends on the "feel" of the situation. And yes, common decency is definatly passe, the entitlement that people feel is definatly passe, again just because I have a phone doesn't mean I have to answer it. I am entitled to nothing of you, and you are entitled to nothing from me... That is common courtesy.

heh...i have wonderful friends...from this site and others. i'm very blessed.

i also have a very active and full life, and i refuse to feel beholden to an email. i write if i feel like it...not because i have to out of a misplaced sense of guilt.

it clearly states in my profile that i'm not looking for a relationship...so i don't feel guilty about brushing off the ones that try and convince me otherwise.
