I just got back from the store. On my way out, I held the door open for an older woman. She walked in without a thankyou, go to he!!, no acknowledgement, nothing. So I told her you are welcome. She looked at me surprised and said "I didn't say anything"
well duh....isn't that the point? |

I hold the door for everbody & if they don't say thanks, I make a point to say something rude to them!!

People out here in Oregon are super nice,but i have encountered that b4.Sometimes they are so deep in their own skull they dont notice.

in todays world people are so preoccupied they don't give courtesy a second thought.I thank people for holding the door and they look at me like I have three heads.Who the F@#$k raised these dolts?

I told her that was my point and I could have just let the door shut on her. I got the deer in headlights look
she may not think twice about it...but maybe next time she will say ty. But it made it better because at the next store...a lad smiled at me and said have a great day |

If I hold the door open for someone, it is not to get gratitude for my act. I see what you are saying, but if you don't get credit for a nice act, saying something rude or sarcastic kind of negates the kindness, doesn't it?

Come to Charleston, SC for 10 minutes and tell me how often common courtesy seems to crash into a wall of stupidity. It's fun. |

That's too bad. When I hold a door for someone or pull out a cart for them, I purposely draw attention to the act and say "Here you go" or "Let me get that for you" which typically spawns a response.
I always make it a point to give a smile and say thank you when someone does something nice for me. Theree is never too much nice in the world. |
