Topic: Advice/Insight from Guys | |
---|---|
I've been "talking" to some matches thru email (this site and other paid one). After corresponding for some time (1-2 months) when I broach the topic of talking or meeting, the communication comes to an abrupt halt. Why? Does this imply too much of a commitment? If we were to have met in person in the first place we may have already exchanged phone numbers or arranged another date. Is there some unwritten rule I violate when asking for a more personal sort of contact?

Sometimes I think some guys just want to talk on here...it must just fill a void for some...

They enjoy the website communication, but they don't seem to be interested in going the next step further. Maybe they aren't interested at all. You will find some guys like that though. Sad.

1-2 months???? Weird... I don't know if I've ever known anyone to take that long to make a coffee house connection or something...
might wanna add a blurb or make it known up front that you aren't looking for a pen pal... |

Or it's a case of having courage behind a computer screen, and not in the real world. It's one thing to hold a conversation online. It's another to hold one in person. Too many people these days are scared, and of nothing.

Thanks for the replies. So many, so quickly!
I'm thinking of starting another thread about how it seems that with so many options out there with online dating that people tend to dismiss what might be an "adequate" match in the hopes of finding a "perfect" match eventually. What do you think? |

I think you should start any thread you want to start. If people find it interesting, you will know right away.

OH, and for your first question. I am never in a hurry to meet people. I like to talk to them for a good long time to get to know them before I take time out of my life. I am a busy chick.

I heard Dr. Phill just had a show on about this couple that emailed and never met in 3 years. They tracked him down and he I guess he was married.

If they are local to you and not too much planning involved I'd say cut the correspondence time way down. And just go for it.

And how is spending a month or two of corresponding only to have nothing to show for it, not a waste of your time???? I'm no genius but it seems to me that wasting a week is better than wasting two months, no???? Or am I missing something?? |
