In a perfect world race and gender would not play a role in politics, but this a far from perfect world and for those that believe it isnt an issue or consideration are ignorant to the facts ...theres data to support this with exit polling/statistics...
People say one thing but when the curtain closes in the booth they vote another way... I personally dont believe white america is ready for an African American or woman president(getting closer though)...Keep in mind this is not my personal view but when it comes down to McCain and Obama (and it will) Obama dosnt stand a chance by per percentage of ethnic population... Im willing to put money on this... |

Barack Obama refects the hopes and dreams for not only the United States of America, but for all the rest of the World. The Muslims see a brother in him, one who will listen to their grievances. The Whites and Blacks see a joining together of centuries of divisions and non-equality of man against man. The poor see him as some one who cares about their plight in uncaring cities of utter hopelessness. But most of all, We The People see a shift of govrnment politics, moving from the greedy,ego-centered all powerful oligarchy to one where the people choose what their government WILL and WILL NOT DO..
The electricity can be felt in the air,Now is the time to ride the momentum, of bringing "A Republic of The People " to life!!! Taken from the CONTACT Magazine, page 2 of Feb 20, 2008 issue Vol 50 Number 5 |

OK just answer the question dont get mad please. I have never voted. But If I do vote this time I will vote for the person who is best for me right. Its my vote to benifit me. Selfish maybe, true definitly. You cant get that kinda honesty just any where. If Kanye West can say G.W. Bush does'nt care about black people then Aaron can ASK if B.Obama cares about white people. Obama is running for Pres to represent Americans. Why would he even concern himself with color since his mother is white and his father is black. He has enough ignorant people that will concentrate on race. |

I have paid less income tax and received two $600 checks and Im about to get another. The way I understand it Bush had a hand in that. I went to LA after the hurricane that was terrible I saw bodies floating and smelled the death. Im at a loss for words to describe how I felt. I cant blame that on a person or government. Can a new president really change the whole country? Is'nt that up to the people. America is not a Democracy really. If it were we would all vote on every single decision right?

The way i see it you gott 2 600 dollard checks .. but that couldve been used bye the us goverment to do other things with , Instead we got those checks to give it right back due to high gas prices, actually that money went to the far east period. who had that desicion made george walker bush jr = wich if you add all his letters of his name = 6 6 6.

You've got to be kidding!!
Obama's mother is white. His grandparents who helped raise him are white. I live in the South and I hear more people concerned about his race from the North than here! Some of you people really need to evolve! |

get off your high horse lilith u think ur better than me maybe that says something about your personality a character flaw perhaps ouch not nice at all. I do not see color when I see people and guess I feel others should do the same (I have a vivid imagination) I see character, personalities, and most of all human beings. My question is, when Kanye West mentioned Bush not caring about black people, were you offended, astonished, shocked, indifferent? |

Here's what I hear Obama say about Race!!
Most working- and middle-class white Americans don't feel that they have been particularly privileged by their race. Their experience is the immigrant experience - as far as they're concerned, no one's handed them anything, they've built it from scratch. They've worked hard all their lives, many times only to see their jobs shipped overseas or their pension dumped after a lifetime of labor. They are anxious about their futures, and feel their dreams slipping away; in an era of stagnant wages and global competition, opportunity comes to be seen as a zero sum game, in which your dreams come at my expense. So when they are told to bus their children to a school across town; when they hear that an African American is getting an advantage in landing a good job or a spot in a good college because of an injustice that they themselves never committed; when they're told that their fears about crime in urban neighborhoods are somehow prejudiced, resentment builds over time. Like the anger within the black community, these resentments aren't always expressed in polite company. But they have helped shape the political landscape for at least a generation. Anger over welfare and affirmative action helped forge the Reagan Coalition. Politicians routinely exploited fears of crime for their own electoral ends. Talk show hosts and conservative commentators built entire careers unmasking bogus claims of racism while dismissing legitimate discussions of racial injustice and inequality as mere political correctness or reverse racism. Just as black anger often proved counterproductive, so have these white resentments distracted attention from the real culprits of the middle class squeeze - a corporate culture rife with inside dealing, questionable accounting practices, and short-term greed; a Washington dominated by lobbyists and special interests; economic policies that favor the few over the many. And yet, to wish away the resentments of white Americans, to label them as misguided or even racist, without recognizing they are grounded in legitimate concerns - this too widens the racial divide, and blocks the path to understanding. This is where we are right now. It's a racial stalemate we've been stuck in for years. Contrary to the claims of some of my critics, black and white, I have never been so naïve as to believe that we can get beyond our racial divisions in a single election cycle, or with a single candidacy - particularly a candidacy as imperfect as my own. But I have asserted a firm conviction - a conviction rooted in my faith in God and my faith in the American people - that working together we can move beyond some of our old racial wounds, and that in fact we have no choice is we are to continue on the path of a more perfect union. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/03/18/obama-race-speech-read-t_n_92077.html |
