I think Dr. Phil is too dogmatic....
Personally I never cared for him... |

I think that people listen to him because he has no involvement with who ever he is trying to help. He is objective not subjective.
we dont listen to whoever is around us because they have a vested interest in our lives. |

He seriously grates on my nerves, but do Did that Dr.Laura person.I liked that he had a sense of humor in a movie. It is good, he's helped some.It seems his intentions are well, but
counseling is subjective. Just my humble opinion that no one person has the right to dictate was is normal behavior. |

I think Dr. Phil is fabulous.
He is a PhD, which means he is a real doctor. It's sad that society says if you did not cut open a body you're not a doctor. His training was no less trying or intense. Or less valid. Currently he is not licensed, due to a horrible scandal where he was accused of unethical behavior. He was guilty of only a portion of what was claimed, according to most stories you read. We will never know the real story. He provides a valid approach to most situations, and says things people need to hear. More importantly, he is aware he is not providing therapy, but merely waking people up to the central issues and always reminding them that they need more assistance than he can provide during his show. He has done some shows on drug addiction and mental health that are tremendously informative. Has he succumbed to the ratings and media hype? Sure. It's the nature of the beast. I still say he does more good than anyone else on daytime tv. |

He was only liscensed in Texas and no longer lives there, nor does he plan to practice there again. He did not give up his Texas liscense until several years after his move to California where he and his family have lived for 10 years. |

Agreed Lil!
In a previous post someone said he states the obvious. I agree and as simple as that sounds, many people do not recognize how rediculous their behavior is. |

I think it's important that people with influence, perceived or real, use that influence in a positive way. I say "Hooray Dr. Phil!" We need more people to be honest. |
