Topic: Locks of Love! | |
---|---|
I don't know how many of you have heard of locks of love, but they're an amazing group. They make wigs for young people who don't have hair, either due to cancer, or there's another disease that causes baldness. Now, being a cancer survivor myself, I know it's really no fun to be bald. I remember being teased for it a couple times. On Febuary 28th a big group at my school is getting a bunch of people together to donate their hair. I'm hoping to spread the word, and get even more people to join in. There are even some salons out there that will give you a free haircut if you donate your hair to locks of love. Start an event in your hometown! I plan on donating my hair, and I might even buzz my hair off. Heck, you could probably collect donations to cut off your hair, and then send that money to cancer research! I strongly encourage you to participate in any way you can!
Good luck all! |

Yea that is a great cause. I have done it once before. I don't remember what the length requirement is otherwise I would've done it last time I got a hair cut. But I am definitely gonna do it again.

I believe they like 10 inches, but I don't think it matters if it's a little shorter. Last time I donated, I donated 13 inches, and it was 3 pounds of hair. It was really crazy. |

I thought it was like 12 or 13 but I wasn't sure. I suppose there are ways of finding out. But I can't keep my hair long for a long period of time because it causes headaches and I already get migraines. But it is an awesome feeling to know that you helped someone out. |

Yeah, I get the same thing. Which is why I like to cut it off short. Plus it dries so much faster that way. That way, I make myself, and others happy with one haircut. |

I have heard of it!
here in N.Y. there is a popular bar where one of the tenders donates 5- 6 inches of her hair almost yearly (she grows it way past her as*) ....they have a donation night at the bar when she does it. It's a great cause. |

Donated my hair in the past, so have my daughters, and a number of friends, both male and female...it's a great International organisation. |
