of John McCain over
Mitt Romney.

The candidacy of Mitt Romney,
considered the 'Reagan' conservative
and favorite of the Rush Limbaugh
and other far-righties, is losing steam.

And that's what is driving
right-wing conservatives
nuts.

Maybe they will end up
holding their noses when
they go into the voting
booth this November to
vote for either McCain
or Hillary.

I was completely against the war when it started, but it happened and bailing out now would be MUCH worse than not getting involved at all.
I think McCain can see the bigger picture and as a believer of the constitution, think he is in our best interest.

First off, I think we'd be hard pressed to find many in this country who don't believe in the Constitution. The problem is in the interpretation of it. Claiming that people who interpret it different than you don't believe in it is disingenuous and incorrect.

I agree with you about the war, living in the past is senseless at this point. There is a war, whether we supported it or not doesn't change the fact that it needs to be dealt with.

This is true but mainly I'm concerned about it getting modified (or updated, mostly the second amendment that has already been changed by the first Clinton Administration). Nor Obama for that matter, when they speak of change, it usually turns out for the worst (examp. NAFTA) Both Cinton's & Obama were in favor of.

Personally, I like McCain. I think he would try to do right by veterans, an issue that is important to me.

However, I disagree with him on how long we should keep troops in Iraq. I know that immediate withdrawal could be disastrous, but I don't think we should have troops there for 100 years, either.

I would have to agree, that I don't want us to be there any longer than necessary, but I would hate to see all the lives, money and effort to go to a complete waist. Once the feet hit poop, I feel that is wrong to leave a country ready for the picking of terrorist regime.

What are you talking about? McCain is not moderate; he is a RINO.

I'm somewhat of a moderate, though more a progressive, but yeah, I'm pleased to see Mccain coming out as the front runner. Obamas still pushing strong too, I'll be happy with Obama or Mccain, both moderates;^]

Why do you say McCain is a moderate when he is for open borders? Aren't you aware that most of the top Republicans and talk show hosts such as Rush and Coulter are against McCain because of his liberal policies?

RINO is a term used to describe Republicans who are too moderate. Yes McCain is a RINO and a moderate...they are synonymous.

Amending the Constitution is a tremendously hard process, requiring far more involvement than the President. In fact, the President has very little power when it comes to Amending the Consitution.
Congress would have to propose an amendment, vote for it in the two houses of the federal legislature, and then 3/4 of the state legislatures all have to vote for it in order for it to become a Constitutional Amendment. If I recall correctly, the President's signature is not required anywhere in the process.

In support of the tremendous difficulty of amending the Constitution...take for example the fact that there are only 17 Amendments which have occurred since the Bill of Rights.
