Okay I have a REALLY rare name (I'll never tell anyone what it is because then i would be easy to find IRL) So when I hear someone on TV With a name VERY simular to mine but may be a fwe letters off, or pronounced differently it ALWAYS catches my attention and holds it until i realize the name ISN'T mine.
Does this happen to everyone whom hears a name like theirs on TV or just me because my name is so unique? |

I think it happens to everyone. The woman who does the weather on the morning news station I watch has the same name as me. It's not rare, but by no means common. But I think I know where you're coming from. I would think that people with more commonly used names, like Sarah or Michael, would be used to hearing them all the time in reference to others and not "perking up" each time you heard it. I know my son has a name that sounds quite similiar to others and I always notice.

but really, do u remember the first lead singer of Drownding pool? he had my full name and when he died..I was getting out the shower and heard the guy on the radio say I was dead... at least I thought he was talkin about me.true story... the 1st thing u do when u hear ur dead is grab ur c*ck. I dont know why I had to share that,but really I thought God was f**kin with me for a minute. |

Sometimes it's not the rarity of a name but the way "mom" decided to spell it, that it becomes rare. Unfortunately no one spells it right...I gave up correcting them
