The other reason a lot of people lurk and don't post much, is because they post but rarely get any response. After awhile it becomes a thing of, "Well does it really matter if I post or not? lmao" The people who post a lot get together and get to talking and those of us who are new to the boards or new to posting tend to get overlooked. 
Not true. If you take an active part in the various threads you won't be regarded as a closet lurker.
lol Not always  You have to admit, popularity does play just a minor little role in it  It's just sort of the way it goes, I have some chatrooms where I've been there a long time, well known and "newbie" posts get overlooked by people who see I'm there. Then there's other chatrooms where I'm the newbie and it goes the other way around. It's just sort of how things work, that's all I was pointing out :D

After awhile it becomes a thing of, "Well does it really matter if I post or not? lmao" But there are many -- I can say this because I see hundreds of them running through "New Matches" every day -- who never posted even once. Might be nice if they would at least give it a shot! You never know! The people who post a lot get together and get to talking and those of us who are new to the boards or new to posting tend to get overlooked.
Yeah, but there are those here who are open to talking to anybody, old or new or whatever. There is a small group of very exclusionary, cliquish, newer people here who refuse to talk to anyone who is not in their "circle." I have made a few dozen attempts to interact with them, and I have always been ignored. OK, so I figure, screw them, there are a whole lot of other people here who aren't like that! Sometimes you just have to know who not to waste time on! A newbie who wants to find people to talk to, will be able to do so here, with just a little time and effort! |
