I think it is, I live about an hour south of Boston. There are some great restaurants and pubs; it's a lively city without feeling too overcrowded as compared with other cities,nice to stroll around in the summer - especially around Boston Common. There are good theatres, some interesting historical features, excellent library and art galleries, and the Boston Pops! 
Boston rocks .. met a guy from online there - we had a blast. What a great city.
