oh guess thats Jersey talk...a stoop could be steps or a porch in the front of a residence ....people in the North hang outside alot and congregate ...we tend to be social folks

we have porches in texas, but we mostly do tailgating

tailgating would work..its so hot in Texas that I guess most people hang out inside in the A/C. In NJ it cools down at night so everyone comes outside.
