Nick Hume, an executive for an insurance company, is just your regular guy. Loves his wife and 2 sons, the oldest of which is about to go off to college to play hockey. One night while driving his son home from his game, stops at an innocent gas station to fill his tank. While his son is inside getting a drink, the gas station is assaulted by a gang of thugs who shoot the attendant, and slice the son’s throat. This propels Nick into a deadly rage that accumulates in a hail of bullets and blood as he exacts his revenge upon the ones that killed his son.
Here it is folks, a simple story, but amazingly portrayed by Kevin Bacon, and shot by director James Wan (Saw). This is very loosely based on the novels that inspired the Death Wish films (the novel was actually the sequel to the original Death Wish novel, and was about the same character Charles Bronson portrayed). I picked this up yesterday (the day it was released), because it’s been a long while since a good revenge flick came out. I was saddened that I could not have seen it in theaters over the summer due to a limited theatrical release. Check it out sometime folks; it’s a damned good ride! |
