It only works when the guy treats the chick like another one of the guys, and/or like a sister. The opposite is not true however, do not treat the guy like a chick, it's a total buzz kill. Yes, men and women can be friends, but from my personal experience there is this secret internal pain inside because you know personally that nothing will ever move farther than friendship with this person. I had a couple female friends in high school, whom i got along with great and i was very attracted to them, however one ended up getting married and breaking off contact with me and the other ended up dating another friend of mine that we went to school with. I try to keep my amount of female friends down, because it seems that all it turns out to be is an awkward mess. Who hasn't heard the excuse "but I don't want to ruin what we have" before? When she tells you, "you're just a good friend and that's all you'll ever be", that kind of puts things into perspective as far as being friends with the opposite sex goes. It would be nice if there actually was a way to move past the point of friendship, but many times, once you've set the bar, you cannot move past that boundary. That's just me though, I suppose that some others have had more success than myself.

yeah some of us have. I have known this guy since I was 5. we did date once but we were better friends. now he has a gf and a baby. im just glad im not the one that had the baby
