I think it's a matter of preference and not of discrimination

seahawk that is all I ask is for them to be repectful when they are around my son started smoking when I quit I wanted to jap slap him but did I nooo and it was his baby but.......... he does not smoke in his own house or around her. So I do have to give him that much credit. The guys at work they will not smoke in the office they do mess up once in a while but I dont say nothing but normaly they go out in the shop cause its a small office and no celling fans to keep the air moving around. Heck I go out to eat with my son and I ask for smoking cause heck I know how it is with the cig to finish the meal as long as a place is well ventlated then there is no problem with them smoking around me.bigsmile

I am a smoker, when I am at someones house who doesn't smoke, and feel the need for a cigarette I go outside. I do smoke in my house, and get upset when someone comes in to my home, and tells me that I am not allowed to smoke in their presence. They don't pay my bills, and know that I smoke in my home. So they need to respect me when visiting in my home as I do them in their home.

A lot of countys are declaring all public places non smoke here in PA. Personally I feel that a bar, or resturant should be allowed to make the choice, and post if it is smoke free or not. Then if someone who doesn't smoke and enters an establishment that has smoking, the establishment should not be held responsible. Its a matter of choice, that the government is taking away from business. My question is what is the next choice that the government will take away?

Sorry to the OP I veered off the subject

not wanting you in my bed isn't necessarily judging you.

it's very important to me to have the people that surround my home life be good influences upon my children. it's also important to keep them away from smoke and nicotine...to avoid adverse reactions.

ok ....with this...i am a smoker....if i was dating a non smoker...i wouldnt smoke around him....and children...NEVER i would never smoke around children ...i am a very respectful smoker....it is not fair to those who choose not to smoke have to be exposed to it....and the whole bars trying to go non smoking..i think thats crap....maybe open a couple bars that are non smoking but dont change all of them.....if someone is a non smoker dont go to the smoking bars.....

I'm a smoker. It sounds stupid, but, I love smoking. I have been a considerate smoker, but, I do smoke in my car and apartment. I am quitting in the new year because the cigarette tax for MD is going up to $2/pack. That will make a pack of 20 cigs $5.10. I cannot afford it anymore. That is my motivation. I know I will gain weight, but, there's nothing else I can do.
Thanks big f'n brother. "who wants to live forever?"--Queen

Well,I have no intention of living forever; my hope is to live fully, and having fully operational lungs are a big asset in attaining a fully functional life. Cigarette smoke is a pollutant and does have an effect on those around you. Our ozone has taken a beating thanks to all the pollutants,i.e.: tobacco, factories, aerosoles, etc. I don't argue the fact that you have a choice as to smoke or not to smoke. I agree it is a right for all of you to be able to smoke....however, where is my right to choose whether or not I breathe clean air as opposed to 2nd hand smoke? Maybe smokers are not allowed to smoke in as many places any more, but still, you have more choice as to when and where you light up. We, the diseased, are not afforded such a luxury as to the quality of air we breathe.
I appreciate respectful smokers. I feel no one should tell you whether or not you may smoke in your own home, either. I feel you have the right to smoke as much as you want in your home and car, places that permit smoking, etc. Just try to respect the rest of us who were born with bad respiratory systems. One day, if you fall victim to emphysema or c.o.p.d. you will understand a little more of my feelings regarding this issue.
