It was some 11C during the day, barely any wind, and a lot of sun!!
I went out for a walk and it was lovely. You can truly feel spring in the air now. My first crocuses are beginning to bloom, the first ones I've ever had in my life! Always wanted them, never planted any until last autumn. Lots of snowdrops in my garden & front yard, rhododendron is starting to flower, as is the yellow primula. Wonderful time of the year with the first colours & flowers appearing |

8°C Cloudy
Rainfall in last 24 hrs 14 mm Humidity 93% Wind 14 mph Feels Like 5°C Pressure 1013 hPa Visibility 9 miles UV Index 1 Air Pollution 2 We had storm strength winds yesterday and it was ‘blowin a hoolie’ as they say here in Scotland. The North suffered the worst with trees down and power cuts so I’m grateful to not have experienced that although I did have to prop up my fence which, thankfully, is still standing…..phew! |

The North suffered the worst with trees down and power cuts so I’m grateful to not have experienced that although I did have to prop up my fence which, thankfully, is still standing…..phew! Glad to hear your fence is alright but must've been bad if you had to support it! Higher up north was also worse over here, still is I think. Danged wind... I am glad I put in an extra support. It still moves in spite of that, but at least it does have more support and it gives me more peace of mind, hihi. And it should move, right, like a tree. If it'd be rigid it'd break. I like the blowin' a hoolie, haha. I guess that's where 'hooligan' comes from? I'm currently watching "Shetland". Funny how they can pronounce things, lot of German based things in it. I guess via Scandinavia way back when. Like this man saying what sounded like "meer" which in both Dutch and German means "more" which was what he was saying in Shetland speak, haha. I sometimes do have subs on with this series, something I normally don't need. I can manage but sometimes it's like "What the hell did he/she just say???" and I have to find another streaming site with subs |

Haha….I haven’t watched Shetland but I can imagine the slang used.
Found this on the web: the 'hoolie' in 'blowing a hoolie' may come from the Orkney Scots 'hoolan', a strong gale, influenced by the Irish use of 'hooley' for a very noisy party. Hoolan, to me, is another Scottish word for howling but what I do I know? |

"Shetland" never appealed to me and suddenly I decided to give it a whirl. It does not disappoint!
Well, all the hoolie based stuff share the same thing: it's loud/noisy/unpleasant/overwhelming, hihi. So I'm quite sure they share the same linguistic root. Looking into it briefly... I think there's a link in Dutch/German to this as well. It suggests there could be a link to "uil" which is "owl" in English. Hmmm... Which reminds me of seals. The other day heard the howling (not sure of the right word here) they can make, almost spooky! I had NO idea. They were grey seals. |

10C cloudy, occasional light showers/drizzle
Not much wind It'd suffice to say: boring weather. |

10C sun is shining, blue sky with some white clouds.
We could get rain/drizzle in the afternoon, but MET says esp. in the SW -which is where I live- there will be sun too. Hope the sun isn't shy as I want to go for a walk, but have to wait for my hair to be dry first! |
