Coccinellidae is a widespread family of small beetles ranging in size from 0.8 to 18 mm. The family is commonly known as ladybugs in North America and ladybirds in Great Britain and other parts of the English-speaking world.
The most common legend as to how ladybugs got their name is that during the middle ages in Europe, swarms of aphids were destroying crops. The farmers prayed to the Virgin Mary for help – and help came in the form of ladybugs that devoured the plant-destroying pests and saved the crops! Ladybugs were originally called 'Our Lady's beetle' by British farmers. |

Until people started buying the lousy things to eat non-existent insects, and we were overrun with them. I found them in walls, attics, garages, anyplace they could get into. Ever see swarms of those things flying through the air? I have. These so-called organic gardeners did nothing but create an infestation of them. And I did what I had to, to get rid of them- a shop-vac.

I never see large groups of lady bugs. I see one and watch it fly away.
