Topic: No one sees God | |
---|---|
The Jews believe that God had been seen: "..So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel, saying, "For I have seen God face to face,..." Genesis, 32;30
These beliefs were transferred to Christians and to some Muslims like Ibn Taymiyyah. He says, "Muhammad is the Messenger of God, whose Lord sits on the throne with him."The majority of Muslim scholars rejected what Ibn Taymiyyah said. A Jewish man asked the Prophet Muhammad: O Muhammad, describe your Lord for me. Muhammad said: The Creator can only be described by what he described himself. He is not be described by how, and where. As He described himself, "He neither begets nor is born, Nor is there to Him any equivalent.” Some of the Muslims believe that the believers will see God in the hereafter, and others believe that God cannot be seen, neither in this world nor in the hereafter, because God Almighty says: Eyes comprehend Him not, but He comprehends all sights. The Quran says: "When Moses came at the appointed time and his Lord spoke to him, he asked, “My Lord! Reveal Yourself to me so I may see You.” God answered, “You cannot see Me! But look at the mountain. If it remains firm in its place, only then will you see Me.” When his Lord appeared to the mountain, He leveled it to dust and Moses collapsed unconscious. When he recovered, he cried, “Glory be to You! I turn to You in repentance and I am the first of the believers.” The grandson of the Prophet Muhammad said: God is neither a body nor an image, or spirit, and He creates the bodies. He is not divided nor limited, nor increased nor diminished. The Quran says: The Creator of the heavens and the earth, He made for you mates from your own selves, and mates of the cattle, by which means He multiplies you. Nothing is like Him, and He is the All-hearing, the All-seeing. |

"Philip said, 'Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.' Jesus answered: 'Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.'" - John 14:8-9
Granted, after Messiah Jesus was crucified, died, buried, resurrected and ascended to Heaven, nobody alive now has seen him in his glorified body. |

Exodus 33:20 ESV / But,” he said, “you cannot see my face, for man shall not see me and live.”
John 1:18 ESV / No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father's side, he has made him known. John 4:12 ESV / No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us. Notice; he has made him known! NOT SEEN |

In Exodus 33:20, God tells Moses, “You cannot see my face, for no one can see me and live.” However, earlier, in Exodus 33:11, we read, “Thus the Lord used to speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend.” So, did Moses see God, and if so, how did he live?

The word that is translated “face” in Exodus 33:20 is the Hebrew word panim. This word was used to the front of a person’s head (Exod. 10:28), it is also refer to the surface of the earth” (Exod. 33:16), the forefront of the tent (Exod. 26:9), it can mean to be before someone – “your males shall appear before the Lord GOD” (Exod. 23:17), or it can even refer to the presence of someone – “they were driven out from Pharaoh’s presence” (Exod. 10:11)
While God told Moses “My face (panim) shall not be seen” (Exod. 33:23), He also promised the Israelites a few verses before this “My Presence (panim) will go with you and I will give you rest” (Exod. 33:14). What we must conclude is that there is some element of the grandeur of God that cannot be witnessed by human beings, that Exod. 33:20-23 calls His “face (panim).” At the same time, we must also conclude that there is some other limited aspect of His glory that can be seen, to which the same word can sometimes apply—and most translations call His “Presence (panim).” |

Both Colossians 1:15 and1 Timothy 1:17 refer to God as the "invisible God." This fact is also highlighted in the Old Testament command to not make anything in God's image (Exodus 20:4).
God is Creator of all things (Genesis 1:1) and must therefore be much greater than what any physical body can contain. Quran; No vision can encompass Him, but He encompasses all vision. For He is the Most Subtle, All-Aware. |

I don't know if you can see your God or not but I see my God everywhere I look.
From the stars in the sky to the dirt beneath my feet and everything in between. The wind, the rain, sunshine and darkness. My God is the Universe and the Universe is my God. My God exists between the moments of time, in my desires and dreams, within the good and evil of people and within the past, present and future. |

My God is the Universe and the Universe is my God. My God exists between the moments of time, in my desires and dreams, within the good and evil of people and within the past, present and future. Aleksey, a scientist and astronomy professor at the University of California, answered a question: Why did the universe emerge? He said: We got the Nobel Prizes, 2011, because we discovered that dark energy is what leads to the expansion of the universe and this expansion continues according to the laws of physics, but scientists cannot answer who created these laws nor the question: Why did the universe appear? The Quran mentioned that: We have made the heavens with Our own hands and We expanded it. Was the Prophet Muhammed, Astronomer with modern devices and spacecraft to prove this in the Quran according to the denial of the existence of God? |

Prophet Abraham was born in Babylon. The people of Babylon did not worship God, but some of them worshiped the planets, some worshiped idols, and some worshiped kings.
His father used to make idols and statues of gods and sell them to people for worship. God blessed Abraham with wisdom, so he grew up hating idols and statues. He decided to advise his people. When night came, Abraham looked at the sky and saw a bright star. He said with a voice that people can hear in order to argue with them, and to show them their mistake: "This is my Lord." But when it set, He said: "I love not those that set." When he saw the moon rising in splendour, he said: "This is my Lord." But when the moon set, He said: "unless my Lord guide me, I shall surely be among those who go astray." When he saw the sun rising in splendour, he said: "This is my Lord; this is the greatest (of all)." But when the sun set, he said: "O my people! I am indeed free from your (guilt) of giving partners to God. For me, I have set my face, firmly and truly, towards Him Who created the heavens and the earth, and never shall I give partners to God." |

Georges Lemaître, a Belgian cosmologist and Catholic priest said in 1931, the Big Bang theory, which is accepted by all astronomers today.
The Big Bang theory is the prevailing cosmological model of the observable universe from the earliest known periods through its subsequent large-scale evolution. The model describes how the universe expanded from an initial state of high density and temperature, and offers a comprehensive explanation for a broad range of observed phenomena. Quran said: Have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens and the earth were of one closed up piece, then We parted them, and We have made of water everything living ? Will they not then believe ? |

John 10:30 I and the Father are one. Those who lived and seen Jesus in biblical days, saw God in the flesh (Jesus). James 2:19 ESV / You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder! Colossians 1:16 ESV / For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. The LORD creates Jesus and his mother |

In the year 621 AD, God sent His Prophet Muhammad on a single Night Journey, on the back of the winged steed called Buraq with Gabriel from the Holy Mosque in Mecca, to the farthest mosque in Jerusalem. Then the Prophet moved from Jerusalem on a heavenly journey accompanied by Gabriel on Al-Buraq and reached heaven as far as possible and returned after that on the same night. God gave Muhammad instructions to take back to the faithful regarding the details of prayer.
The Quran say: Glory to (God) Who did take His servant (Muhammad) for a Journey by night from the Sacred Mosque to the farthest Mosque, whose precincts We did bless,- in order that We might show him some of Our Signs: for He alone is the All Hearing, the All Seeing. The Prophet was asked: Have you seen your Lord? He said: I saw Him with my heart and did not see Him with my eyes |

Christ told his disciples that he looked like his father. If we know what Christ looked like then we will have a valid description of the father. The book of Revelation gives a description of Christ. |

The Bible teaches that God is spirit. A spirit, by definition, is invisible. It does not have any physical form. God, therefore, has no physical form. This is one of the reasons that the Lord did not allow idols of him to be made. How God can exist as a spirit without any sort of body is a divine mystery.
