Odd question.
How about avoiding rats from the start? |

I would be embarrassed and wouldn’t be able to think coherently. I just don’t understand why would a person do that? Does it make him/her powerful to shame someone?

The best part of this is to Listen and Be Silent Although both words have same letters . Yes Being a Good Listner requires Being Silent ! |

My integrity stands on its own merit.
My self-esteem is strong enough for no concern. It would tell me a whole lot about the person insulting me. It would make me think they think I must be pretty dangerous to them for them to focus on me. I know I'm not perfect. I know I make mistakes from time to time. I can admit that. 'Insulting' implies they are trying to hurt my feelings. I can't be insulted if I don't feel shame. I am pretty weird but I know that and frankly, I like it. I'm not ashamed of my life (even the bad stuff I did as a kid) because I learned from my mistakes and gained the wisdom not to repeat those mistakes. Hell, I still make mistakes and I still learn from them. The person who needs to insult others is usually the one with low self-esteem. A person with high self-esteem doesn't need to. |

I dont give any reason whatsoever to hate me or Insult me . Some people create their own Drama Out of Jealousy ! 'Insulting' implies they are trying to hurt my feelings. I can't be insulted if I don't feel shame. (Liked this Sentence of yours ) . |

I just say, have a nice day. I get irate customers from time to time. I've learned not to take it personal. Here is Me wishing you "ALL THE BEST IN YOUR NEW WORK SPACE" No Tensions Plzzzzzzzzzzzz . Tension may Lead to Million New Things ! Thanks! I imagine as an assistant manager, I'll get my fair share of insults, haha. With it being a new environment, it might bother me at first, so I will have to remind myself it's not about me. People who insult others randomly do it to make themselves feel better, more superior. It's about them, not me. Fortunately, I'll be there for a little over month before customers start arriving, so I'll have a little more solid footing in my workplace by time they get there. |

Over the years I've learned there are many people who want to make others miserable so they can feel better about themselves. When they meet contented, happy people its an automatic response. A lot of times they don't even realize they do it. If confronted about it later, they will deny they did it.
Angry people will often insult others. When I was assistant manager at a new car dealership there was a large mirror behind the manager's desk. He told me to invite irate customers to talk in the office. The mirror disarms the anger. People usually don't like to look at themselves when they are angry. It works. Some people are spoiled. Some have over-inflated egos. Some hold grudges even after they tell you they accept your apology or forgive you. Some need a power trip over someone because someone else makes them feel inferior. Some thrive in turmoil. Some just want to hurt the feelings of others and so on. Insults only work if you allow them to have power over your own contentment, otherwise, they are just empty words without meaning or justification. The moment you feel a need to respond you give away your power. If it strikes a nerve its your own insecurity that rules you. Insults don't affect people with healthy self-esteem. |

So are you all saying that smashing a chair in his/her face is not a good option??

Well, I tell you, it happens every day in here, anger, resentment
towards anyone enforcing the rules. You bear it..graciously, hopefully. We have to allow everyone to blame us, to leave the real perps unidentified..to go about their business. Being civil does not come naturally to everyone. You might be simply horrified to see what we see and with whom we have to deal. And still be pleasant to everyone. Humor, even one-sided, can be helpful. That would be my way in the real world ;-) |

No matter how healthy our self esteem may be, some people’s words can cut like a knife.
If we receive 10 compliments in a day and 1 damning one, it’s the latter that we recall more vividly! It’s human nature that we all want to be liked, no matter how much we deny it. Treat others as you wish to be treated, or in the words of Thumper “If you can’t say nuffin nice, don’t say nuffin at all!” |
