The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World were:
the Great Pyramid of Giza, Egypt. the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. the Statue of Zeus at Olympia, Greece. the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus. the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus. the Colossus of Rhodes. the Lighthouse of Alexandria, Egypt. But there's also talk of the 12 world wonders: so we're looking for nr 13: 1 Petra, Jordan. Of course, this marvel is the first on our list! ... Bagan, Myanmar, Burma. ... Chichen Itza, Mexico. ... Machu Pichu, Peru. ... Great Pyramid of Giza, Egypt. ... Taj Mahal, Agra, India. ... Great Wall of China. ... Colosseum, Italy. 9. Sigiria, Sri Lanka 10. Ephesus, Turkey 11. Acropolis, Athens, Greece 12. Christ the Redeemer, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil I think Stonehenge sure as hell deserves a place in this since it is a magickal place and leaves everyone guessing to this date how the heck they built it, and who. |

When I think "Wonders of the World" I think natural wonders, not structures built by mankind.
The Grand Canyon comes to mind first for me. Then The White Cliffs of Dover Minnesota Salt Flats Mount Everest Uluru (aka Ayers Rock) Black Smokers Victoria Falls The Great Barrier Reef The Northern Lights Mount Tambora Yellowstone Pamukkale, Turkey Blue Lagoon, Iceland The Sand Dunes of the Sahara Kenai Mountains Death Valley Amazonian Rainforest The Great Lakes Mount Vinson Massif Nuvvuagittuq Greenstone Belt Our little planet is extremely beautiful and extremely ugly. Both barren and fertile. Extremely hot and extremely cold. Earth is a World of Wonder. |

The internet. I just hope they returned it safely to Big Ben. https://youtu.be/iDbyYGrswtg |

I would pick me ., but that would be very egotistical so instead I choose a place close to my heart ... the ancient city of palmyra ..
A tribute to Khaled Al-Asaad , an 82 year old archaeologist who was beheaded in 2015 after refusing to lead ISIS to ancient artifacts from Palmyra that he had hidden in a secure location. |

None of us will be around to witness which, if any, of our man created structures outlast our natural wonders. But the writings on the wall most sadly, for the Amazonian Rainforest and my beloved Great Barrier Reef. Both can be saved and rejuvenated. Depends on the level of 'care factor'. Just a side note on something I became aware of only recently and after being born and bred downunder since a very long time ago. That Australia is 'the' most barren Country in the world. Go figure!? |
