I don't know about men's stuff, but for women it goes back and forth between beautiful curves to stick figure thing.
Back in time around the 40s-60s women had lush bodies, curves, hips, full thighs. A bit like Marylin Monroe. Then you get Twiggy and suddenly that becomes the craze: the anti-woman type. No curves, no breasts, no hips, no long hair. Women began to do weird chit to look like her. Then there's Erika Eleniak and Pamela Anderson and it's back to the full figured woman with beautiful curves, full thighs, hips etc. only this time also with huge breasts. Silicone, but that didn't seem to matter. Voila, women en masse get breast implants. Angelina Jolie appears on the scene... women now need and want to have full lips! We basically have to jump through hoops to be considered beautiful. Fashion models were always anorexic. Only now is this beginning to change and do we see more normal fuller figures. I don't think the demands for men are that high. So no, I don't think beauty now is the same as 70 years ago. We do have more freedom now. 70 yrs ago my mom was a young 17 yr old teen. She had to go to school or work in a long skirt. Once there, she changed into trousers. But this wasn't really allowed. Church demands etc. And lots is fake now. Lips, boobs, smooth wrinkleless faces... Faces that look gorgeous but only because beauty filter was used etc etc. So the high demands still aren't over. |

One person's trash is another person's treasure.
Beautiful is beautiful and whatever era it is, I am sure most are not swayed by what is vogue. I really have a hard time looking at the cat faced look of some older woman who have had a facelift. But if it makes her happy and more confident, well why not? It is her life. Anyone got ten grand? |

Beauty is static. It never changes.
The accessories, that make it sexy, some are timeless. Others change from season to season. |

Speaking as a guy. Females evolve according to the perceived desires and attraction of their male counterparts. So do guys.
It's a competition where you experience the 'ultimate', the mediocre or simply the tolerable. It seems to work. |
