Charley is my all-time favorite country music singer. As a kid, I frequently listened to his songs.

Saw him way back when at the San Antonio stock show and rodeo.
I can even play/sing a couple of his songs.
He had 40 #1 hits!

I seen him back in the '80's at a local fair.. He had the most beautiful rendition of "On The Wings of a Dove" that I had ever heard in my life.. when I heard it, it gave me goose bumps.. I will never forget it.

Well dammit. that just sucks. He had a way to paint his words into his songs. you'd get a mental picture of a slice of life, and the style and feel of where it was.

My family and I enjoyed seeing him live at Silver Springs here in Florida about 15 years ago. He's been a favorite of my Mom's for decades.

I think he performed at this years live, maskless, CMA show.

His talented pioneering presence will be missed.

I like that he was popular in country music, specifically.

I just thought of listening to KBUC -the best country music station ever -they would play the awesomest stuff nobody had heard of -but the favorites, too.....

...on the way to the feed store in my dad's pickup -kids all begging for him to buy us some candy and "bellywash" as he called it (usually a strawberry nehi for me). He would tease us while trying not to laugh by telling us how bad everything was for us -which we seriously considered then completely ignored as he got it for us.
