new user and received my first mutual match response , my question is the match wanted to correspond only on a gmail account address and gave an alternative way to text a phone number but the area code given is not in the state. So is there a reason that gmail has something different with there email accounts?

There is no reason to go "off site" when you can communicate here for free. |

Hi art .., Gmail is a free message service . Any email address can be traced to an IP address which holds your personal information. (Unless you have a feature or app that allows you to hide your IP address ) .
Stay on site till you at least have established trust and authenticity . Best of luck
