Topic: WHY IS THERE SO MANY EVIL IN THE WORLD? | |
---|---|
In the biblical sense “the fall” happened before God created man. An angel named Lucifer (Satan) became prideful and rallied half of the other angels to his side to challenge God. When they were defeated God created Hell and then threw them all down there thus renaming Lucifer Satan and the rest of the angles were called demons. The first murder mentioned in the Bible was when Cain killed his brother Able which were both sons of Adam and Eve. Later Eve has another son named Seth. In a strange way God lets evil exist because He put a plan in motion where evil will finally be defeated and good will rule eternally.

Evil exists in the world because people have the freedom to make choices, and sometimes those choices lead to harm. According to Christianity, this started with Adam and Eve, the first humans, who disobeyed God and brought sin and suffering into the world (Genesis 3:6). This is why we see things like war, injustice, and greed throughout history, such as slavery or the Holocaust, which show how humans often hurt one another out of selfishness. Christians also believe in a spiritual enemy, Satan, who influences people to choose evil (1 Peter 5:8). God gives people free will, and when they turn away from Him, evil can grow. The Christian hope is that through Jesus, who sacrificed Himself to defeat sin and evil, there is a promise of a future where all suffering ends, and the world is made new (Revelation 21:4). This hope is supported by the resurrection of Jesus, which Christians see as proof of God’s power over evil and death (1 Corinthians 15:3-8).

Good and evil exist everywhere. If you are religious, you might even think of both as simply 'misprints' from God (good) and the Devil (evil)! Of course, we hope that good always outweighs evil.
Sadly, we actually see and hear about evil more than we see or hear about good because evil is much 'louder' and so often linked to the abuse of power, such as in warmongers, whereas good is much 'quieter' and therefore tends not to grab headlines and goes unnoticed so we have to look for it. Generally speaking, having been fortunate enough to have travelled to many countries and met so many people from so many different backgrounds and circumstances, I've found that the overwhelming majority of people are good and just want to live in peace to make life as comfortable and secure as their circumstances and opportunities will allow. I think the key is to always look for similarities and not differences when meeting others for the first time, no matter what their ethnicity or circumstances, and not to have preconceptions created by third party bias and bigotry. As a Humanist, and unlike 'Elena', I am unencumbered by any religious beliefs or dogmas. I don't need any religion to tell me how to live my life. I am perfectly capable of leading an ethical/moral life without religion. As my guidance, and as a basic tenet of Humanism, I aim to try to leave this world a (marginally!) better place than when I entered it. And as an Atheist, I expect no afterlife when I die, only oblivion, just as there was before I was born. For me, there is no need to cloak the distinction between good and evil in religious terms, I know which side I want to be on! Peace and love, people! Be nice to each other! |

Yes, from a Christian perspective, there are indeed two fundamental sides: good and evil. Good aligns with God's will, reflecting His nature of love, justice, and truth. Evil, on the other hand, represents the rejection of God's will, rooted in pride. hate, love wars another words sin. While the world may present complexities and gray areas, these ultimately stem from human perspectives and limitations. At its core, everything aligns with either God's goodness or deviates into what is contrary to Him. Thus, every action, thought, or decision reflects one side or the other. But you already this

The Bible doesn’t mention "Mother Nature" because this idea comes from old beliefs where people thought of nature as its own power or god. Instead, the Bible says God made and controls everything in nature. For example, Genesis 1:1 says, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." The Bible shows that God is in charge of the world and provides for it, and it tells people to take care of the earth but not worship it.

Thankfully, Jesus took the hell that we all deserve with Him on the cross! What a better world we would have if people would repent and turn back to our redeemer!

WHY IS THERE SO MANY EVIL IN THE WORLD?
Why? This is the question we ask ourselves when we hear about the misfortunes and calamities in the world. We are all concerned about why there is so much hatred and suffering in the world. Similar questions were asked even by people who had strong faith, for example, the prophet Habakkuk. God hates evil and suffering even more than we do. Then why is there so much evil in the world? The answer is in the Bible. Why do people suffer? 1. Many priests and religious leaders claim that people suffer because this is the will of God. Others believe that God decides in advance what misfortunes will happen in a person's life. Still others think that people (including children) are dying because God takes them to his heaven. But that's a lie! Job 34:10 says, "...it is unthinkable for the true God to act wickedly, for the Almighty to do wrong!" People believe that God is to blame for all bad things. After all, it is he who rules the world. But 1 John 5: 19 says "... the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one." And the Evil (Satan) is very cruel, because of his influence, people also become cruel. 2. Another reason is that when Adam and Eve sinned, they stopped being perfect and passed on sin to their descendants - you and me. Sin is another cause of unhappiness. Because of their sinfulness, people compete with each other, fight for power, fight, oppress each other ... It is rightly said in Ec 8: 9 "...during the time that man has dominated man to his harm." 3. Another cause of unhappiness is "time and chance." This means that a person can get into trouble simply by being in the wrong place at the wrong time. God is not guilty of people committing crimes, fighting and oppressing each other. Nor is it His fault that earthquakes, hurricanes, floods occur ... Why does God allow us to suffer? In the Garden of Eden, Satan deceived Adam and Eve and declared that God was a bad ruler. Satan wanted to convince people that he (Satan) will rule better than Jehovah and people do not need God. The first people believed Satan, they thought that they themselves would decide what is good and what is bad. Jehovah did not begin to destroy the rebels. He acted wiser. God gave Satan time to prove that he was right. God gave time to people so that they could prove that they can live and manage themselves well without Him. For thousands of years people have tried to control themselves, but they have not been able to do it well. And it became clear that Satan is a liar and people cannot successfully rule each other without the help of God. As Jeremiah 10:23 says, "I well know, O Jehovah, that man's way does not belong to him. It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step." ask God |

Pride lead to jealousy jealousy lead to hate and hate lead to rebellion but even after all of this God still had a plan which leads to salvation through his son.

Now you get my pride thing! Pride is one of the seven deadly sins but when you were somewhat sarcastic about the one post to me honestly there’s a slight difference between proud and pride and honestly there’s nothing wrong with being proud of something and so if you’re not proud of anything that’s okay but putting others down for being proud of whatever is wrong. Now you get my proud thing. |

yes..I do understand. You want to play semantics to play both sides of the arguments. No, as long as we can agree on our points of view then I see no need to. |
