I would like to hear what people have to say about the catholic faith both pro's and con's on the topic.

The only pro I can think of about it is it is easy to become a lapsed one

Not gonna criticise the catholic faith itself, some of my best friends are catholic. Many of the catholic leaders however, have been outright bigots and murderers. I also think many of the leaders have heavily paganised the religion not to mention making it ok to bare engraven images of the prophets;^]

All Christians were Catholic for the first 1500 years of Christianity.

It is largely a medieval organization.

It has many forms of mysticism and many different paths of spirituality that are under its umbrella.

It seems to be the Christian church most interested in what you can do for God and others and not so much interested in trying to sell you on what the church can do for you.

It believes in miracles and science.

It believes in the inter-connectivity of both faith and reason.

It believes that we are all persons and are more than the sum total of our chemicals and physical make-up.

It believes that there is more to existence then what you can touch. There exists the supernatural.

It allows for evolution. Responsible drinking is O.K.

It avails itself of all of the gifts that Christ left us.



Those are a few things I could think of in a short time. They are either pros or cons.

Not true at all, constantine formed the catholic church somewhere around the 400's, though Paul is the cornerstone. Gnostics and other obscure christian sects were around long before that;^]

Actually, Peter is the cornerstone. The church was already in full function at the time that Saul (Paul) was activiely persecuting it.

Several churchs were up & running at that time, catholicism was founded by a Roman, Constantine 400 years later. It was Paul who really converted the greater part there, that's why I'm calling Paul the cornerstone of catholicism. But I'll agree to disagree, it's all up to personal belief;^]

One fact of the Catholic faith is the way they spread the faith. The Roman Catholic Church sent missionaries to all parts of the world as we are instructed to do.
Acts 1:8
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

The Eastern Orthodox Catholic Church was started at the time of Christ. The word catholic means united. All Christians were united as Christians, and The Roman Catholic Church came later and St. Peter was the cornerstone. Jesus said to Peter, "thou art Peter and upon this rock I will build my church". From the Gosples of Peter came the foundations of the Roman Catholic Church.
Yes, it has been corrupt at times. People are human and fallible. The Holy Father, The Pope is infallible in matters of the Church through God and The Holy Spirit. I firmly believe The Catholic Churches= Roman, Eastern Orthodox, Greek Orthodox, was the Church of the first Christians. Those people were originally Jews and Gentile alike.
